Lots of talented kids are competing now at the Youth World Championships in Edinburgh, Scotland. The US has sent a very strong team, as have the Canadians. Results can be found at http://www.thebmc.co.uk/wyc/, and if you have Real Player (you can also follow the links to download the free version) you can even watch the fun as live action. Good luck to all of the competitors! Zeb, reprezent!!!

I believe that the gym was built inside an old quarry and then capped to keep out the weather. Impressive!

Zebster should be climbing right about now. I am a wee bit (that's Scottish you know) nervous waiting to hear. Today is round 1 of the Qualifying and he climbs in the PM. Tomorrow (Friday) is round 2 and he climbs in the AM - so we should know in about 24 hours if he makes semis. Allez Zeb.

In reply to: Eric, post up when you find up how Zeb did. Pick a board, any board... I "tuned" into the live action too late to see Zeb yesterday. His route didn't look that hard (relatively) - I would guess a hard 12? Anyway he flashed it along with 19 others out of the 56 in his category. One other American, all 3 French and 3 out of the 4 Russians all flashed also. He was on the 2nd qualifier this moring which should be a lot stiffer. Server is bogged down so again I can't see it live. I'm sure he is done but we'll have to wait a while to see the results. In general the first routes were fairly easy (just like our Nationals) and a lot of kids >50% in some categories were flashing. Stay tuned

Nika says he is in a 13th way tie for 1st - but it doesn't matter as the scores are reset/zeroed for the semis. semis to finals is a tough cut as they narrow the field from 26 to 8 - and you can bet then in his category there are more then 8 kids who climb 14's...

Yes, but Zeb seems to be peaking at the right time. Hard to believe that he wasn't even cranking at full potential during Nationals.
