i toproped some volcanic choss on pasochoa and on the cliffs above the illinizas hut, neither of which were really worth doing. i did a few artificial routes at the rocodromo wall in quito, which was a decent afternoon. i much prefer the mountaineering in ecuador to the rock. andrew

Have done some routes near the small zoo at Banos. These routs are crappy and dirty. The local climbers are not very willing to give out any information.

There are some decent sport routes near pifo. Probably no more than 7 or 8 routes. Watch out for the pig!

There's a 250 meter wall at Cariamanga, Loja. Lots of routes at Cuenca, Paute, Riobamba, Baños... There are several good routes recently bolted at El Guagua Pichincha. If you'll be at Quito don't miss El Rocódromo, there are very decent artificial routes (ask the climbers there for beta and information). Also the beautiful ones at Los Chillos, about 15 miles from Quito. Climbing places are good, but I have to say that montaineering places are better.

if you are going to climb in Ecuador you should go to the south to cuenca, then you could go to the gym wall and ask there if they are going to the rock to maybe you go whit them they are very friendly, there is many place to climbing and some places to bouldering, you can go to paute, sayausi,El cajas, chacalata, giron, san fernando, cochuma , you can go to loja to theres good climbing and if you want volcano's you should go to Quito ,sport climbing you got in cuenca. :)
