It might have to do with magick, or perhaps the pixie dust they sprinkle on at the factory. [/troll] Seriously though, the lobes are in the shape of a logarithmic spiral and therefore provide a constant camming angle no matter how they are rotated. Then a downward force on the main stem of the cam causes the lobes to rotate and push outwards on the rock. Someone get this man a diagram!

I thought it was a common practice to understand cams before you use them. Even after using them you had to have seen what eyecanon said. This has got to be a troll.

play with them a bit, holding the lobes in your hand, pulling on the stem, and u mite figure it out like i did. its a bit easier to see on larger single axle cams then black diamond cams, but u should figure it out.

The grigri has a cam inside of it (where hte rope turns). THe upward force on one side turns the cam and pinches hte rope on the other side. You can open it up and play with it.

In reply to: how do cams work mechanically. I use them all the time but never figured out how they work. I had to read that a second time just to make sure it actually says what I read.

I can`t figure out how my rope works, I use it all the time but for the life of me I can`t understand it.      Ahaha, there`s one born everyday. trolling with such a lame piece of bait is just too transparent, go away and come back with more subtle bait.

Ye trollers, It's really no more complicated than this - we trust our lives to elffin magic. Or . . . was that we trust our lives to Keelber cookies? No, no I have it now . . . Keelber elves make cookies and grigri's. I wish I could help you with how cams work but I find I've confused myself. Time for some pecan sandys and a nice cold glass of milk . . .
