When and where is the next gathering? I think Yosemite.

Yo Yo,
This reply is intended for the few individuals I had the pleasure of making climbing plans with during the SLC gathering. And if you attended the gathering and remember me, it's for you too.

So, I made it to the Thursday night evening meeting, hade some nachos and beer, and then more nachos, and was having a great time with all you people. After introducing myself and meeting a few others, I made plans with climberchyc, camhead, and climber(Lew) to head out the next day early and hit the classics. After borrowing twenty dollars from toobigtoclimb to pay for my tab, I returned home looking to find lots of sleep and rest, but instead found myslef in the worst fight I have every had, with my girlfriend. Anyways, after hours of bickering, she left crying, and I felt like crap. Needless to say, when I woke the next day, I thought nothing of climbing, but how I could mend the damage I had done to this wonderful girl. It ended up taking the whole weekend, but now we are together and happy again, but I missed out on one of the coolest events I wanted to be a part of. I apologize to all the climbers I made plans with, I apoologize to toobigtoclimb for skipping out on the money I owe him (hopefully he reads this and PM's me with a nasty remark), and apologize to all my fellow rockclimbing.com members for not being able to keep contribute, support, and enjoy this outstanding organization (a single tear is rolling down my cheek). SO, hopefully those that meet me, don't think I am a complete loser now, and toobigtoclimb, please PM me or email me at rockclimb6@hotmail.com I would like to repay the money I owe you. WHew, well time to move on. Later

Adam

I spend all day collecting pay
And working for a dime.
In a fifth-floor office at a desk,
I am TooBigToClimb.

I sat in front of my computer screen,
Feeling rather sh*tty.
But felt much better once I saw
A trip to Salt Lake City.

I thought, “I am too busy,”
A hard working executive dolt.
But finally decided, “I must go,”
After abuse from Hangerlessbolt.

Break out free Southwest tickets,
Get out the climbing gear.
Step on the scale to get the bad news,
The Gathering time draws near.

“This is thirty pounds too heavy,”
The ticket agent said.
“So am I,” I said with a smile,
“Look at the size of my head.”

Airborne and excited,
The long awaited day.
Then to the airport in Vegas,
To meet Rob and Erika half-way.

Then on to Salt Lake City,
As fast as an airplane can.
To the rental counter,
“You got a mini-van?!?”

Now off to a nearby store
To load up on some food.
Sun shining in the parking lot,
“Damn that sun feels good!”

A campsite full of crazies,
Molests this mellow few.
I quickly lose my socks and shoes,
My toenails are painted blue!

A cold beer in each hand,
Sitting by the creek.
Climbers all around,
This is the solace I seek.

A campfire in the middle,
I sit in my canvas seat.
Who’s that who just arrived?
A guy with Hobbit feet.

Amber kicks the hacky,
A screaming high-speed bomb,
Mick from Colorado,
Gets squished between me and Dom.

“Take that chair,” I say to Les
As he sits down next to me.
Suddenly it gets quiet,
“Hey where are Rob and T?”

Adam regales the circle,
With an impressive poem.
Karen and Mark by the fire,
Too soon they will be home.

Anne’s ass appears before me,
Glowing in the light.
Darkside tries to lick it,
Now that’s a real rare site.

Paul also sits beside me,
Eyeing his bent pro,
Lew tells a joke while laughing,
It’s an old one that I know.

Others around the campfire,
So many I can’t say.
Too short a time together,
Now departure day.

So thanks too Rat and Trevor,
I had a real good time.
And, oh, I almost forgot,
Did I mention we also climbed?

Rob: Be they chipped, be they faded, they are nevertheless BLUE
Toobig: love the prose, lol. I think you should remember the interest on Adams loan though, at least one non-Utah brew
Amber: *lip pouting, big toe scratching in dirt* So you don't think the red hair and blue nails was TOO freaky....and...and...and it's OK if I clip bolts again this weekend....huh huh!!!
This freaks heading north for a bolted crag where the darkside rack has never been. So bite me....HA HA HA
Hey Rob, want to stop by and do the touch up

darkside ... it takes much more than red hair, blue toes, and a couple of bolts to be a freaky freak in my book ... *pats darkside on the back* ... and, really, it's okay, just take baby steps ... think of it as "expanding your horizons" ... new experiences are a good thing ...

THE LEGACY LIVES ON !!!

This afternoon as my partner and I ambled up to the base of Goodro's and Six Appeal in BCC we happened upon two other climbers there, already on Goodro's. So, as we gear up to get on the other climb, we're chatting away when one of the other party says to me, "Are you from Rockclimbing.com." I look up at him and try as I might can't place the face from anywhere. "Yeah." I say, "How did you know?"

"Your toenails are blue."

Apparently he had run into the rc.com crowd that fateful weekend bouldering in LCC. He said you all tried to get him to paint his, but he got away before you could get to him.

I was going to borrow some nail polish remover tomorrow, but now that I've read there is a contest, I'm thinking I might just keep them blue for awhile.

Have fun.

:Sniffle, Sniffle:

Brian, that was really touching. Couldn't have summed it all up any better than that.

T, thanks for laughing, it'll always bring a smile to my face - just hearing you .

I find it absolutely hilarious that we left such a mark on Jay that he immediately recognized Nailzz as a member from the toes. That's just too funny!!

Back here at my desk, with baren toes again (darned Army and their rules ), I find myself stealing away to LCC again every now and then, if only in my mind; just to recall the peaceful joy that I felt simply by being the presence of people who could understand the passion for climbing - finally, people who can relate.

The campfire on Friday night was one of those evenings that I wished would never end. For an all too short time, everything was right with the world, as a battered and bloody few huddled around the dim fire's light to recount stories of the day's adventures and those still to come. The fellowship enhanced by the intoxicating purity of the moment, voices united and raised in song, the sharing of poetry and humor.

Yes, though the night has passed in time and the wind has scattered the ashes; the fire will forever burn in my memory - the night that all was right with the world.

Mick

Edited for spelling.

My toes are still blue through and through!

Mick that was a very eloquent account of the camp fire. But you forgot to mention that when all of our voices united in song, we rarely made it past the first verse.

Thanks to those of you who can make music from those of us (or at least me)who are musically declined and can only listen and enjoy.

I had to give a heads up to a friend...I will accompanying them to a Lu'au.

"So that you are not surprised...I will be sporting blue toenails with my sandals"

(I think I may have an addiction. Not my fault really...whoever chose that color...picked my FAVORITE color on the planet!)

Hey Grant...feel free to swing by for a touch-up. *smile*

Hey Brian...*hug*

Well, I'm at work today. After having been called as we were preparing to drive up to City of Rocks Tuesday afternoon by my boss.

Long story short, 2 guys got suspended/fired for screwing up, and I had to go back early.

yuck.

As for SLC, it was the best vacation I've had in years. Everyone I met was great.

Thanks to Anne for setting up the food and the tour for Corey and I. We had a great time trying to keep up. And tell Duck that we enjoyed his company, the tram ride up to Hidden Peak, and the Pancakes Tuesday Morning..er..afternoon?
Special thanks to wyoclimber for the use of his camper, it was unbelievably cold that night, and we stayed nice and toasty while watching DVDds on my laptop. (I hope the sub-woofer didn't bother the other campers in the park)

An even more special thanks to floof for loaning Corey and I his set of Camalots and a set of TCUs for City and Moab. Which we were unfortunately not able to use..They'll be back to you soon.

And for everyone else, Thanks for Everything.

I have 5 rolls of film developed, and about 4 more to go. I'll get them all posted as soon as I can, but my scanner is old, and I am really lazy at heart.. But they'll get up here.

See you all on the flip side.

Maybe sooner, if I can get to J-Tree during Christmas Vacation....

Oh, before I forget, everyone thank newtons_law, because without his gigantic pan, we couldn't have had that humongous stir-fry thing saturday(if it was saturday..I didn't wear a watch all weekend) night.
