not much, in my opinion, a "climb" is a "route". More specifically, a "climb" is done on a "route."

clime is slang for climate, which is the atmospheric aspect of a region or area. A rout is a heavily one-sided victory of one individual or party over another.

No, roooooot is the part of a tree that delves deep into the ground allowing it to get its nurishment. rout is as previously described. route however, sounds like roooooot kinda, but has nothing to do with either one. I guess it would be a climb that follows an obvious (or not so) weakness in the rock, such as a crack...

You can also climb a line. That's a cool line. That's a cool route. That's a cool climb. Synonyms dude. Everyone will know what you're talking about.

Is anyone actually gonna reply to this with an answer? I agree that they are just synonyms of the same thing. There isn't really a difference between them.

You can climb a climb, you can climb a route, but you can't route a climb. Or can you?

but can you r00t rockclimbing.com? (hint: it's harder than you might think) ps. As for the difference between a route and a climb, AFAIK there isn't. You might say that a climb you did is a variation on an established route, or that you put up a new route, but if you think about it, a route is the path a climb takes. re: Fiend: root on rc.com: Yeah, you can, but I can change that in a hurry Watch out, you'll get thrown into a "provisional" group if you don't keep quiet. Nice site, by the way. Movable Type is a great little system. Hope you two are enjoying your roadtrip, if you're in the Needles around the 4th of July it would be great to meet you (and rrradam). Fiend has access to the root account on the rockclimbing.com webserver. For now. I wouldn't do anything about that even if I wanted to, since his website is also on there.

A route is something you do when you deliver newspapers. A route is particular path that you follow when you climb.

For the record, route is pronounced "root". I don't know what this "rowt" of which you speak is. The two terms are used fairly interchangably (is that a word?), but I think that "route" refers to an actual, established route while a "climb" could just be messing around on some variations or something like that. When I builder, it's a "climb", not a "problem". Same dealio.

route: A road, course, or way for travel from one place to another. b. A highway. 2. A customary line of travel. climb: 1. To move oneself upward, especially by using the hands and feet. 2. To rise slowly, steadily, or effortfully; ascend. See rise. 3. To move in a specified direction by using the hands and feet: "climbed down the ladder; climbed out the window." 4. To slant or slope upward: "The road climbs steeply to the top." 5. To engage in the activity or sport of mountain climbing. i guess their really isint a diffarance, the dictonary doesnt really tell the right kind of climb that your talking about.
