Pardon me. In Red Rocks, Nevada. There is a route called origional route. It is the only one in Red Rocks called this. I would like to climb it somtime. If anybody would like to climb it, or point out any other errors I may have made in my post please respond.

Are you talking about Rainbow wall? Goes at either 5.12 or you aid a bunch of it? Takes most two days or so I think.

I'm going to assume that this is not a troll. In that case, it might have done you service to say "the original route on the rainbow wall" or something. also, if you are confident enough to attempt the original route, i would think that perhaps you should know better than to look for a partner for that climb on rc.com. I wouldn't trust anybody that i met on this site to do that as their first climb with me. but i generally just don't look for partners on here. Anyway, it might do you better to hook up with people at the gym or outside, or post a bulletin at the gym(s) looking for a partner... climb with them to make sure you're compatible and both safe, and then perhaps, if you feel you are ready for the wall, do it.

Aeolian Wall is one! Rainbow Wall, of course, is the other. buffalo wall is incorrect, but a good guess.... Anyone care to venture a guess on the third? (hint: it is not an aid route)

original route on rainbow can go at 12a using variations. The giant red dihedral at the top is incredible! You can see that feature from the strip. NO HAMMERS!!! :)

In reply to: velvet wall is correct And for the record, there's no Black Velvet Wall route. The original name for the route and the canyon was just Velvet Wall, in Velvet Canyon. The "Black Velvet Canyon" name came along later. I guess Swain named all three of the "Original Routes" in RR!

actually, Swain only has two of them- Aeolian and Rainbow. The Velvet Wall: Original Route is listed as such in the Urioste guide (and of course, in Red Rock Odyssey, which has an excellent tale of Larry's adventure up the route). The Original Route on the Velvet Wall went to the top of the Black Tower as per Epinephrine, then headed left and up after the face pitch above the tower to merge with the obvious ramp much lower than Epinephrine does. Epinephrine, of course, continues up the striking dihedral between the tower and the ramp above. an interesting side note for those that have done Epi- the face pitch above the tower was originally done with no bolts- hows that for bold! oh, and interestingly enough, the Urioste guide actually lists all three as 'Original Route', along with the formation that they are on.

In reply to: oh, and interestingly enough, the Urioste guide actually lists all three as 'Original Route', along with the formation that they are on. You're right, my apologies to Todd. I thought those "original" names had been bestowed by him. Imagine what Roper could have done with this theme in Yosemite. 8^)
