id go for the 3rd option - wait. i heard a rummor petzl is designing an "updated" grigri, or similair device. A newer model would theoretically shed weight, and be easier to use. I think that the release of the cinch might prompt other companies to release their own versions, as it has proved it can compete with the grigri. So, i just think you should wait, stick to that atc a bit longer. im waiting to get another autolocking device, since i lost my grigri, and have decided a few more months wont kill me, and id rather have the choice between 2 new models.

i could be completely wrong about the new grigri tho, can anyone support this rummor?

We just got the Cinch in at work. I haven't used it, but it's lighter for sure. I understand that the feed is a little stiff with older, fuzzier gym ropes but this shouldn't be a problem for outdoor use (unless your rope is old and really fuzzy too.) The reason it's a gri-gri- killer is that it's $20 cheaper.
