About Georgia:
While Georgia may not boast the wealth of great trad and sport routes found in neighboring Tennessee, it still has an excellent variety of climbing and bouldering.
For trad climbers, Lost Wall is a great choice, with mostly short lines ranging from easy to ferociously hard. Granite slab climbing reminiscent of North Carolina's Stone Mountain can be found at Mount Yonah or Currahee Mountain. And for the aspiring Southern Hardman/Hardwoman, Tallulah Gorge offers intimidating and exposed multi-pitch lines. Boulderers have a field day in Georgia. North Georgia's Rock Town attracts pebble wrestlers from all over the south, while Boat Rock, in the metro Atlanta area, has a wealth of high-friction granite problems. Other less well known bouldering areas abound. And if it's raining, don't despair -- just head to one of a number of climbing gyms in and around Atlanta! |
