As a Spaniard who has lived in Montreal, I believe I can provide an accurate answer:

Not as cold as Montreal but definitely too cold to be called Paradise.

The bright side?, for a "small" country (small between quotation marks because compared to Canada, Spain is a tiny country, despite of being one of the largest countries in Europe), Spain has a hugely diverse climate. You can climb in winter in many of the southern crags and in summer in the northern crags, just 5-8 driving hours apart. The list of superb crags is too long for this post.... have a look at:
