Alright.. starting to think that an honest gtg can be pulled together for this upcoming spring. It should be happening soon you know. Or, maybe I'm just wishful thinking because it's supposed to be in the 40's here this week. In either case, just trying to pull a gtg for everyone at Devil's Lake. Heck, if nothing more then just to boulder and get outside with everyone again. So, right now, I'm thinking March 20th & 21st. What say thee?

BTW, we could do what Organic did last summer with a post (this one let's say) showing what's going on during the weekends throughout the summer..

Well.. I'm suggesting just a bouldering outing March 20th and 21st (although, I just found out I have to be somewhere on the 21st, but I'll be around regardless). Just something so everyone could get together again for a little bit.. hopefully the weather will cooperate with us.

If not.. I'm sure April will be rather kind for everyone.

Oh, and I'm bringing Sendiks orange juice if you guys are bringing more Smirnoff.

shoulder wha....? you could be a belay monkey...jk...i'm up for bouldering, to, even tho i dont know you guys, but you climb at DL, so you must be cool. anyone up for some trad? my fiance got me some shiny metolius cams for my b-day, and they talk to me while i sleep...a pink ALIEN would be cool, but what size should it be? keep me updated, and i will probably run into you guys at VE sometime, i'll be over at the cracks, grunting like a sickly monkey...have you guys ever thought that mowz was twitchy?

What?! Who.. where? Shoulder? Is this still that injury from wakeboarding this past fall? Seriously girl. Sucks though.. but, definitely stay off it until the pay sub-sides. Don't want a lasting injury. Come up regardless.. still should be a good time.

Anyway, I would definitely be into doing some trad. But, I think we're going to have to wait on that one. It's still rather early, and I could pretty much guarantee that the cracks will still be wet/seaping from the spring thaw (usually have to wait into April before you'll be able to get on any serious trad climb). Also, careful with the cams at the lake. As you probably already know, with the nature of the stone, it's not unheard of for a cam to completely slide out from a placement. You almost have to treat the placements like a normal stopper placement, just making sure that it'll get some purchase if you do take a fall. FYI, I guess..

Yeah we still have a little bit of snow, but thats like a wet crash pad right? Has anyone heard what the weather is supposed to be like.

As far as the knee goes, twisting is still hard on it, and hurts sometimes, but I think its doing alright. I haven't really pushed it yet.

Ahhhh the rubbish i put up with from that kid.

ERICKA.... I CANT WAIT TO CLIMB WITH YOU!!! ROCKSTAR!!! You need to heal up real fast... like in "The Last Crusade" when Indy pours holy water on his dad. Real fast... just like that.

Most of the snow is melting around here.

But will the Lake rock be wet and/or muddy?

It certainly looks like it would be warm enough for me to go up there, and there are some folk around here, including hoofers_andy, who are looking to go on Saturday.

I can't wait to go back outdoors! :D

Hey.. I'm all for it, but an 8 hr drive compaired to an hour drive makes things a wee-bit different. I would have to take an extra day off work, etc.
I definitely will be throughout the spring, just can't do that right now.

Another thing, if I would make that trip just for bouldering, I would probably drive the additional ~3 or 4 hrs and go to HP40. Just me I guess..

You have no idea how bad I want to go.. can't though. I have to run one last ski race this weekend (Saturday wouldn't you know). Next weekend is a different story though.

I'm sure a lot of the exposed rock will be dry, but not any of the cracks or seams. Espeically with all of the melting that's going on. I would think most of the boulder problems should be alright. Make sure you bring a few towels to try and dry anything that might be wet, or have standing water. With the sun, it should dry right up..

i'd love to finally meet some midwest rc.com people...anyone going to be at the Lake on the 21st? if not, i'll probably run into some of you at the VE comp the weekend before anyway.

trad or bouldering...whatever. if it's bouldering, i have no idea where to go, but i'm up for it if you'll be the guide. "easy" stuff would be good...the Homewood bouldering comp on the 20th will leave me wasted, i'm sure.

Well after calling everyone I have numbers for from Chicago to Oshkosh, I didn't have anyone to climb with and went to boulders.

Did anyone climb this weekend?

Yeah. hoofers_andy and I joined a group of people up there on Saturday. It was a bit windy and cool in the morning but once the sun came out in the afternoon it was really pleasant (though it caused some snow melt to run down the various rock faces).

Either I or Andy will try to get some pictures submitted.

O.K., I guess I better get some comments in here before the thread gets too long.
Dancingmadlybackwards - You been watching the Last Crusade just to get a view of those awesome Moab towers in the beginning? I gotta warn you guys, Moab gets into your blood...I can honestly say that not a day goes by that I don't think of my trip out there. p.s., That route you lead at Boulders a couple weeks ago was sick! Good job.
Quickclips - I haven't talked to you in a while, We need to exchange numbers. I'm planning on not planning anything this summer so I can climb most weekends.
Ramlson - Great idea on the Bouldering get together, I'm in. Where is the party going to be held? I don't know if this is a possibility, but I've got one heck of a DJ system I could bring with if you wanted to have a real party somewhere, just an idea to throw out there. Plus, an idea I've had lately is to have a tour of some of the "Secret" Sandstone bouldering areas( You've seen the pics ). If people were interested we could figure out a weekend this spring and I could work out the logistics. It would probably take two days to do this little tour.
Later

I was wondering when you were going to chime in Chad. :D Glad to see that you're willing to get one some rock w/ us in a few weeks. I would be completely down to do the tour, heck it's more climbing. Heck, we could start to tour at the Lake that weekend, at the Junkyard boulder or something along the North Shore. Whatever..

I didn't know you used to DJ either. Same boat, just needed to take a break for awhile, but I've spun throughout the midwest. Sounds like we could get something serious going to the summer. Wonder if Kay would mind putting something together up at Green Valley. Could be super fun some summer night.

BTW, and this is for everyone, looks like I'll be gunning for RRG March 13th-15th if anyone is interested (although, this trip is still somewhat up in the air). And, Rocktown/HP40 April 6th-11th. Anyone interested?

Hey Ramyson, I'm still doing the DJ thing about once a month or so. I got really sick of it after being booked about every weekend last summer and missing out on lots of climbing adventures. This summer is going to be about R & R and lots of travel. I've got tons of sound gear so we can really tear it up if things work out. I'm down with the bouldering in a couple weeks, can't wait.
Not sure if I can pull off the RRG trip but the HP40 or Rocktown thing might work. I was kinda thinking about hitting Jackson Falls over Easter and HP40 or Spearfish Canyon over Memorial Day. All those plans are up in the air though.
Anyone that wants to join in on a bouldering tour of the lesser known places in Western Wisconsin just speak up. THere is so much out there!

Dan, I was going to go the weekend after spring break, but I'm going to be:
1) broke
2) returning my old man's truck
3) getting my bro's tent back to him

so thats not going to work. I'll look in to further dates later and see what I can muster up.

quickclips...if you can get to milwaukee two weekends after we get back (first weekend in April), i'd be all up for driving my ride to the red. I'd have to be back by Sunday, but that's not a whole lot different than your plan, as far as i heard. what do you say? You can hear the faint siren's call of the Red calling your name...

I say we stay at the lake as soon as people respond I will reserve a campsite. Unless people are absolutely against this. Sorry but $10 a night for as many people as we can fit beats out $6/night/person. Sorry Kay but you need to lower the prices.

I really don't care where we all stay. I'm actually suprised that places are open to camp this early in the year. I have nothing against staying at either place. Hopefully the weather will straighten up a bit.

hey all i'm new to this site. I currently live right in the middle of illinois. Bloomington if any of you happen to have been to upper limits that's my home gym (i know it's a gym but good luck finding a crag around here)

Anyway i'm all for getting in on a trip someplace. I just got back from jackson falls. That was some amazing climbing.

how is starved rock? Is that climbing any good?

Anyway if anyone is looking to get a trip together in illinois for a weekend lemme know and i'm all about going. i'm at most 4 hours from anywhere in this state, so nothing is really out of reach. I'd be down for hitting starved rock if it's worth doing.

oh by the way i mostly boulder and sport climb, haven't really touched trad yet.

first off, welcome to the community!

FYI, rock climbing at starved rock is not allowed. (IMO, after looking at the rock while ice climbing, which is an approved activity, i'm not sure if i'd want to. the quality of the rock seems to be on the low side)

there's loads of climbing in southern illinois. jackson falls (which has a lot in itself) isn't the only destination down there, check the route database here for more areas.

No, we had one cloudy morning but it had broken open to blue skies by about 930. The first night was a bit cold in the tent since it got down to 20 degrees. that was a bit much. Aside from that i have no complaints it was a great trip. Once i get ahold of a scanner i'll throw up some pictures

Yahoo weather says 46 both days and partly cloudy to sunny. Sounds great to me! The friction at DL should be pretty good for bouldering at those temp. Might get a little frigid at night but thats what campfires are for. I'm sure that the weather forecast will change by then so who knows. I only have Sat & Sun off so a roadtrip is out for me. If anyone else want to cahnge the location, thats fine by me but I'm leading to the lake regardless.

Well temps in wisconsin are now slated at a high of 40 for saturday and a high of 38 for sunday. Sorry guys but I am not coming to climb in that! Instead I will most likely be heading to Jackson falls on friday night and coming back sunday night. Temps there right now are high 50's and low 60's for saturday and sunday. Anyone else want to go?

Boo..

Actually, the weather is looking really good: 45 and party sunny (last time I checked anyway). But, like Chad said, that's perfect for bouldering around the lake. Heck, best day climbing I've ever had at the lake was 36 degrees out. It made things seem like, dare I say, there was friction. I'll definitely be there.. although, I won't be able to stay and camp Saturday night, or climb on Sunday. Have some things I have to take care of in Milwaukee.

So, I guess the real question here is, who's still planning on going? And, any idea where we should meet up? I'm guessing the north shore (far south) parking lot, but I'll keep it as an idea to get more discussion on it.

black diamond enduro's. pretty nice really. I wouldn't have minded if they were a bit lighter but that's ok. It's tough to complain about weight when all those trad climbers are pulling full racks of gear up routes.

I'm trying to gather up some people but its not looking good right now. Would be nice to have a few more people for spotting but thats OK.
Looks like there is a slight chance for am showers but besides that it looks great. If it rains a bit I guess we could hike out and look at some of the more hidden boulders.

Tell me about it.. but, I have been able to find one person that's interested in going. So, looks like it's just going to be the two of us, and then whomever you can find. Doesn't really matter.. it'll be a good day regardless. I'm just happy to be able to climb outside again.

See you in the morning Chad.

So.. how did the weekend go Josiah? Come on man.. give us a report.

As far as our weekend, it ended up awesome. 50 degree weather, and it wasn't even windy since we were climbing on the West Bluff (wind was out of the west). "Found" a new small area (from what I can gather anyway), which yielded three new problems. And, then climbing at some established areas. There are some pictures if you're interested.. look in the Wisconsin bit, or on Rokkylm or my user pages.

Here's a quick report from the Moab trip.

Myself, Dancingmadlybackwards, monopocketmojo, greenspace, jrock, zclip and a few others all went out to Moab for a few days and got on a bunch of routes on Wall St. Then Dan and a guy we met out there did Castleton Tower while some of us climbed and other biked. All in all a good trip. I'll give more details and post some pics later.

How was the rest of the trip after we left? It was good to get two days in Red Rocks, but I'm still craving to get to the top of Solar Slab. 2 pitches is definately not enough to slake the thirst for a 5.6 slab multipitch. Castleton Tower was pretty sweet, though. Definately worth the approach and extra day in Moab. I hope that you guys had fun and quick drive back home after that trip. It rocked, and it was awesome to hang out with the group that went.

Eventually we all will be.. I'm sure.

Actually, I'll be up leading a class the first weekend in April, and I'm sure I'll go bouldering in the evenings. We might be able to work out something then. That, or towards the end of April (I'll be down at HP40 during Easter).

Ugh 12 hours of driving for 5 hours of climbing and half of that on wet rock. Bad bad rain storm sucked big time. This is life though. Will probably be up at the DL to boulder this weekend.

The bouldering at the lake was great last weekend, but it kicked my butt pretty good. Looks like I'll be heading up this weekend too, probably Saturday. Not sure yet if I'll be doing routes or bouldering, depends on who I wind up going with. Hopefully some of you will be down there on Saturday.
Sounds like the Moab trip rocked! Somebody post some pics!

Anyone up for some bouldering up at the lake Friday(tomorrow)? I could jump on some rope if you were really really persuasive. Let me know. Otherwise it might be a solo trip.

greenspace.... yeah its ok... i have accepted my "man hands" as the necessary evil of climbing hard. And besides i got an even worse nickname over break (thank you quickclips) .... i have been fondly referred to as: rope b!t*#... because apparently all i am good for is putting up ropes, and then handling them poorly (ie im kinda bad at flaking a rope nicely when i am belaying someone up to my bolts). So yes... friends.... thank you for the love...
its okay.... i know that Ericka is still my friend... i will lead rad trad with her this spring and we will take rockstar pictures.

and greenspace.... i am laughing out loud right now just thinking of your sick camera.... and your explicative outbursts everytime it wound to the next pic. HILARIOUS! I am especially excited to to see the pictures of solar slab (11 pitches of trad bliss) and also when you were angering the cop by taking pictures of him.... hahahahaha you rock. KLINKY!!!!!!!!!!!

ps.... i will post more spring break pics right now...
pss ......... YOU ALL ROCK.
except quickclips ... he is slow.

Friday, I'm done w/ class ~12 dan give me a call after that. I'm probly down for Saturday. just for the day though.

I more then likely won't be there on Friday, as it sounds like I might be helping set for the JCCA comp at Adventure Rock this upcoming weekend. We'll about that though, since it seems to be up in the air currently. Regardless, I'll be working Friday anyway. But I will be around Saturday, instructing a class from UWM, and will more then likely be running around bouldering afterwards. It's possible to meet up with anyone if they're around. Just let me know..

Like I said previously.. I'll be leading a group up there during the day, but think I should be around to go climbing around 4:00pm or so (more likely earlier then that though, but I need to be conservative). And, most likely will just run around and boulder until dark. You still planning on being around?

quickclips...i'm working on being there saturday, but i'm thinking that i'll have to work. dig this, i think i left a small north face pack and my sleeping bag at Red Rocks, 13 mile campground, totalling a loss of $500+ in clothes and gear. Pisser. So, with that and other bills coming up, i might be stuck on a portable wall and lock-in. But man, i really want to stay friday night and climb saturday, leading some quartzite and slotting cams. when are you arriving on friday?

Yeah, i miss the gear, but it will give me a good excuse for a new sleeping bag when i get the cash (read: after car payments, insurance, plates registration, rent, and cell phone). I'm free Saturday until 8:00p, so i'll be at the lake two days after all. Quickclips and dancingmadlybackwards, when are you guys arriving?

mojo, just a thought for getting a new bag, check out REI's scratch and dent sale. i managed to get a brand new looking (and smelling) 15 degree 2nd Dimension Mountain Hardware bag for $20, normally around $160 or so, in Madison last fall.

I haven't posted to this forum yet but i used to post to the old one, i guess i haven't really had much to say lately. i am off crutches and am climbing again but only in the gym right now because i don't know that i am ready to hike the CCC yet and life is extreamly busy.

on another note, i am moving down to louisville in August for an engineering co-op. so if any one is going to be heading down to the Red next fall let me know because i am probably going to try to get there at least two weekends a month.

Pawilkes nice to hear you're off your crutches, how it the knee doing? And congrads on your co-op who is it with (your ME right?). I just finished mine at Bemis in Oshkosh. I was working with a few guys from UW.

Mono, I'm planning on getting to the lake ~9 so that we can get a good full day in. I haven't talked to Rach Jeff or Ross yet though. I'll see what they have to say.

Greenspace and I are heading down to So. Ill. on Friday April 9th and climbing the 10th and 11th Most likely we will camp at Jackson Falls because you cannot camp at drapers bluff. We will most likely climb at drapers bluff or ferne clyfe for one day and Jackson falls for one day or something of that nature. Anyone who wants to come with or meet up is welcome to. Temps should be in the mid to high 60's.

i suppose i will state my plans for this weekend...

jrock and i will be headed to devils lake on friday night.... arriving sometime early that evening to Kay's farm. monopocketmojo will meet up with us.... and we will proceed to camp at momma kay's, along with a plethora of cross-bread chickens and donkeys...... about the time in the morning when all these animals begin to mate, we will head out to the rock. i imagine this will be around 8 or if we are slow 9 am. set ropes... climb....take whippers.... hang out.... flail on acid rock... head home. anyone is welcome to join the festivities.

cheers

Rachel

quickclips...i might be up for hitting the Lake on the 16th. i know that i'll be dying to get out to the Lake by then since i'm not climbing this next week. I can probably be at the CCC lot (or wherever) by noon and climb until it's dark or our fingers are bleeding from those little blasted crimps on Acid Rock. Thanx for that catch, btw...

Don't bother. It's supposed to rain all weekend (Sat & Sun). However, if you don't go, Wisconsin will realize this and it will be 77 and sunny.

It's supposed to storm.

That's how it always goes.. especially around the Lake. Seriously, it could be sunny in the rest of the state, but even if it might rain.. it will definitely do it there.

Wish I could go to the Lake this weekend though, just don't have the time. Might be in at Adventure Rock in the morning setting some new boulder problems, and then working on the homested the rest of the afternoon. Oh well.. next weekend I'm sure I'll be around. Although, once again, I'll be leading a UW-Milwaukee group. Bouldering anyone? Like to go back to the junkyard boulder again.. still need to get that traverse.

Also, to get this sucker a bit back on track, what would everyone think about getting together in the middle of May? I'm thinking the weekend of the 15th and 16th. Otherwise, what about the beginning of June? Possibly the weekend of 5th and 6th? We should have a bit better weather, both day and night, by then..

Alright.. discuss.

Well as far as this weekend, I'm staying home. My thoughts are I get to climb enough there not to battle crappy weather. However how about this for a gathering.

Jeff's birthday (jrock) its May 21-23, I'll be there.

Plus I"ll be up there all the time this summer, so just name a time. Mid June works well too.

I drove up there early with my girls on friday. I went there alone so I planned on doing no climbing and just being a belay slave, but I manage to run into someone who gave me a catch. I got a wee bit scared of gettingcaught in t-storms so I didn't stay the night, that was my big regret - but had a great day with awesome weather. Plus, it was the first time for my girls climbing at devils lake, and they digged it totally.

Yeah, no kidding. Hit a bucket of balls, though. It was still nice to get out.

WI weather eats it big time. That's why I never actually plan on going to the lake. I just make a spontaneous decision on Friday nights.

Already working on a gtg.. beginning of June (second weekend maybe). Going to be talking to Kay about it this weekend, while I'm up there. So, everything should be set in place come Monday. I'll keep everyone informed as things progress.

Oh, and mono rules. Honestly. All you do is sit around and sleep.. what's better then that?!

I made it to the Lake on Friday. Beautiful weather and a great day of climbing.

Was out exploring the area West of the Quarry. Some fun stuff out there, though getting around through all the rocks and brush is a little annoying. My legs are all scratched up.

I've been working like mad, no rest for me. Need to make the dough so I can play all summer! I've also been resting my shoulder so I can handel my back packing trip in WY this summer!

With the weather getting warmer...I've been doing a bit of wakeboarding but I need to get ready for some SICK climbing!

My next weekend off is May 1st, I think I have some plans...not set in stone yet! June 10th is when I'm off to Vegas hitting RED ROCKS, and a few others and won't be back till July 18th!

Yeah Baby!

In reply to:
How much rope will I need to TR the Sears tower???

I'd take about 2915' of rope. That would give you enough to cover the 1454' from sidewalk to the top of the building, plus room to tie in and clip in. If you wanted to go to the top of the antennas, you'd need about 500' more.

i was up at the lake yesterday, pretty windy and chilly, but that made for good friction, i onsighted a 5.11a finger crack over at the lost wall, and then flashed a 5.12- over in the same area. and then i spent 30 minutes wriggling my way up an offwidth that i barely fit in. it was fun, but i think i put myself out of commision for a few days.

Hi all!!

I am moving to Chicago. I am supposed to report to my new job (transfer) June 7th.

They gave me 2 weeks off work prior to reporting so I could move, but like the chronic masturbator, I can not stop climbing, so I am using the 2 weeks off to fly out to Yosemite to try and do a couple of walls instead of moving.

I have developed some climbing areas in So. Ill. that are not in the guidebooks(Trad, aid, sport) so If anyone is game I could take you on a tour.

Has the Wriggly building ever been soloed??

How about the ivy at Wriggly field, can I clove hitch the stems for pro?

hey Rich I would love to do some climbing in So. Ill. Boulder, sport, and maybe some easy trad 5.7-5.9. Also I am heading down to So. Ill on May 9th and will be there from the 10th to the 14th maybe the 15th So if anyone wants to meet up let me know, otherwise I will just boulder or try and find a partner. I also plan on spending some time cleaning some boulders and picking up trash and taking pictures mostly at Jackson Falls. 3 days left of school then finals!

hey all-
im leaving for a 3 1/2 week road trip on the 19th of May and was wondering if anyone else was planning on being somewhere in Utah or Colorado during that time to hook up with for a couple days of climbing. I have people to climb with in Zion and may just end up spending most of the time there and down in St. George (ie Chuckawalla, Snow Canyon). just thought i would throw my plans out there to see if anyone would bite.

Hey Organic and Greenspace, We should hook up that weekend 9th, 10th in So. Ill.

I don't really want to go to JF. as I want to Trad, aid and boulder, because that weekend is right before I leave for Yosemite.
Not much sport climbing out there.

I could do Drapers, or we could climb at my secret area, 115 ft. routes.

Pawilkes, If you go as far as Zion, you might as well drive another 12(?) hours and go to Mecca (Yosemite)

I did M.B. in Zion on New Years Eve; it snowed like MF on us the next day!!

That rock turns to choss when it gets wet. It's not as solid as the sandstone in So. Ill.

There is an art to climbing windgate sandstone (Moab also)!! Take lots of slings!!

Enjoy the freak show that is Zion!!

Let me know if you think you might make it to the big ditch.

Cheers!!

two notes...weather pending, i'm going to the Lake saturday. anyone else going to be there?

second, Pawilkes, there will be some people from A-Rock in Colorado and Utah the same time. Nick C. and Matt O. are doing a trip out there, so if you know those guys you might want to get in touch with them.

haha I love the secret area thing so mysterious! Anyways the 10th is a monday I think, wondering if you knew that, and I need to go to graduation for someone on the 9th so I cannot leave till after it is over! But if you know the 10th is a monday and want to meet up I would not mind hitting up drapers at all or even your "secret area". should I send my cams out to get reslung or keep them and just cordolette for the time being? hmm anyways laters

Ok how about 15th and 16th?? That is th last weekend I will be able to climb in So. Ill. until the fall.

I have to go to my sister’s graduation on the 8th.

The secret area is really just a ploy to get you way out in the woods to the "cabin of horrors" where my 3 inbred cousins will do unspeakable things to you and yor friends, after which we will drink antifreeze and pay tribute to the awsome red power of Belzebub!!

That might be fun to meet up there with you guys. Do you have any idea where you'll be looking to climb? If i go, i'd love to do some trad as well, and i've been working some 11's by the CCC. dancingmadlybackwards will probably want to come too.

that sounds cool, its been a while since i've tried any 11s at DL, but i'll have talk to meggen(my fiance), she doesnt particularly like the CCC on the weekends (too many obnoxious people), we were thinking of headed over to the lost wall area (long a** climbs man). theres a climb over there called wild west homo thats looks good. as far as out trad level, neither of us have done it since last summer, so we are looking at 5.7,.8 tops. TR, heck we'll hop on anything. let me know what you wanna do.

Ok new plans, looks like I leave for Yosemite on the 9th or 10th and will be there until June 6th.

If you guys are free this weekend we will be climbing on the Jacks Fork river in Missouri. Bet you guys never heard of that place for climbing huh?

I developed 6 routes on that river (do a google search on the river itself) but I can not give up the beta online, if I did tell you I would have to beat you with heavy mining equipment and leave you bleeding in the moonlight.

I look forwrd to meeting any of you Chicago climbers this summer and also look forward to climbing with you guys in the Fall.

Until then

Cheers!!!

not snubbing...just ignoring.

actually, getting back to the flow of things has been crazy, so most of the time i'm on the puter i either don't get a chance to write people much, or else i feel bad for doing it on working hours. but it's all good, i'm prolly going to be at the red memorial day weekend with some other 'sconyites, so we've got to hook up then.

can you make it?

bad news people, i might be out of commission for a while. i was doin some pocket pullin in the gym and heard somethin like a snap in my wrist (my fiance was standing about 20 feet away and heard it too). i dont think i busted anything, but it is really sore right now. im going to rest up and see if i am good to go on saturday. if i cant climb, i might go up anyways because i was thinking about setting up a highline between the leaning tower and the tombstone wall... we'll see, can you guys PM me your cell#s so i can call if we want to meet up? later

I know who you are; you are the father of God!!

But which God?

The aid climbing thing was a poor attempt at humor.

Aid climbing would be rough with a bad finger.

How about slab climbing?
Or Ridge traversing??

I hope your finger heals!!

jen...welcome, nice to finally have you on board here.

to everyone else, the lake on sunday was absolutely amazing!!! (yes, it was worth all three exclaimation marks) it started snowing at about 8:15 when we were on our way there and I was tempted to turn around but my friend refused to turn back since she had made the committment to get up at 7:30 am. the weather cleared up just as we got there and other than the annoying fire and rescue people (i would rather have knowledgable climbers drag my ass out) we only saw one other rope all day. the weather was fantastic and the place was empty.

one more note, watch out for the fuzz at devil's lake. i got a warning today for cruising along past the boat ramp at about 30 mph. enjoy the week...

I was up there on Saturday and the weather was really nice then as well. We made it to the Lost Face for some tall climbing and had a great time. I think it was almost sixty degrees out by early afternoon.

It was very quiet and didn't really see any other climbers there.

sorry father, monday's are work days for me...that's what kept me from flashing birthday wall last year. I never made it last weekend because of the weather forecast, which turned out to be a fine day to climb, but it was still a little cold for my liking...

Rach! I gotta work on Sunday (and Sat?) before Memorial Day so , alas, I cannot join EVERYone down in the Red. Big :( But "Hi" to quickclips, anyways... They (Rachel I mean) keep telling me so much about you and I really don't think I've ever seen you at the gym. Someday, all mutual friends will meet and climb and it will be good fun.

Ahh.. this could happen sooner then everyone thinks.

Things are gradually piecing together. Thus, keep the weekend of June 12th & 13th open. :D

EDIT: need to remember that I shouldn't post at the end of a day.. my spelling is terrible.

I have an internship (~35 hours / week) with the high school ministry at my church, doing things like Sunday school and leading small groups. I've never understood the Sunday morning thing--why at that time? But, at least I can climb on Tuesdays with the unemployed and college students :D .

I too am hoping to get that kind of job - in Colorado. Ever heard of Americorps? I did a year here in Milwaukee and am so desperate to live in CO that I am considering being dirt poor for another year. :) Nah, I really love CO and I am a fan of non-profit work. We'll see what happens.

But good for you! I'm assuming you enjoy your work?

Derailment ahead!

Any trad junkies looking for a belay b^tch. Not much of a b^tch, but would love to second some routes. The Mrs. and I are head to DL on Sat (and Sun, 'till the rain hits) for easy trad and toprope. If you need a climbing partner or feel the need/willingness to share you trad experience, drop me a line.

That's not a good thing. Non-profit means no money for you either and in turn, no gear. :(

Church, smurch. God is everywhere, so why waste a good Sunday in a stuffy building with a person blabbing at you. Get out and climb! :D

Also, when is this gathering again? Don't feel like surfing through 15 pages of posts.

Gov Dodge is acutally open for climbing, there is just very little there, or so I hear. The guy to ask about that would be....Chad (Rokklym) he goes there alot.

Godfather, I'm going to be in Platteville next week, and might have time to jumb up to Gov. Dodge next week, its only about 30 minutes away from me. give me a call.

Ahddrew, I might be at the lake on Sunday. I've got a green dakota. I'll probly be at the CCC trail.

midwestslacker knows about the sport climbing at governor dodge. he said that there's enough to keep you satisfied as long as you know where to find it. apparently it's tucked away in the back, or something like that...

We (wife and I) are heading over from MI very early on Friday and should be there by 9 AM. I would really like to do as much trad as possible. I'll be around all weekend and Monday too.

If you don't mind doing some easy trad, let me know.

I have a full rack and am eager to gain experience placing gear.

ahddrew, can you meet up in the CCC lot on the East bluff at 9am Friday? otherwise we'll be camping out at Green Valley Farm, and I'll have my black Toyota Matrix with a roof rack. Look for me and maybe we can do some climbing...

bummer Brad that you can't make it. Are you up for a trip to the Red memorial Day weekend?

Well.. it's all to a good cause (ie, keeping my home loan). And, once I'm finished (June 1st is the "inspecition" date), life opens back up again. So, until I get the ok from the bank, my life solely deals with home improvement. Thanks for the offer though, but I think I'm going to have to wait..
