FYI, Climbing Plans for this week, for anybody interested, I will be at CR monday after work (with wannabeaclimber) from about 4:30 until dark, most likely. gonna try to make Hammond Pond Tuesday...

and if the weather cooperates, I'm going to go to Purgatory Chasm friday morning, if I can get a couple partners.

BTW, I finally got my 10.5 mad rock flash shoes...they fit pretty good as far as I can tell...prolly won't get to try them until monday though...

Jake & Wide, still not sure about RIRG sunday night

Chad you're still down for tonight right?

Rob... how's the recovery going big guy hehe sooooooo goood

unless you guys change ur mind i'm still planning on getting to RIRG at around 8pm and climbing till my hands stop working

side note... for those with experience.. jeff, TC, how long will it take Crow hill to dry out after this rain? i think most of tomorrow, tues, and wed are supposed to be sunny and hot so u think by wednesday at like 4 it'll be dry enough to climb on?

jake the hand's feeling ok, but I wore my new MR flash shoes for about an hour today trying to stretch them out a bit...ouch. ;-/ my toes are a bit sore.

last night I was at REI, they've go MR phoenix lace-ups there for $70. I tried on a pair of 10s, one half-size down from the Flashs I've got...they actually fit my feet better than the Flashs do...oh well. hopefully after enough wearing and climbing the flashs will mold to my feet. they really squeeze the toes down into a pointed toe box. the phoenix toe box is more rounded.

have fun at RIRG tonight.

GOOD rob.... a little sore will mean they will stretch out and fit perfect soon... if they felt comfy then they'd be too big to start out..

Hopefully Chad gets back to me soon so i know he's definitely going

Jake

ps i posted a poem from a guy on a poetry site cory told me about in General and the ladies forum's if you wanna check it out

jake -

CH takes a solid week of sun to dry. Some faces dry out faster; the practice face usually stays wet the longest.

Not sure how the warm temps are going to affect the process. There should be something climbable by the time you go.

wide, I don't quite get what you mean by "TR on you APurgatory exploration?" do you mean friday? tonight I made plans to meet shane at CR. the poor girl hasn't climbed since, I forget when, if you don't count the not-climbing we did at purg sunday before last.

I want to try for hammond pond tomorrow, but there's kid coverage issues I need to deal with that might take me out of the picture, can't make any promises.

hey, are we screwing up the forum by having so many pages on this thread? it says we have 45 pages, but the 45th page is empty, and I always have to back track to the 44th.. been doing that since 38-39 pages ...weird.

Sorry, typos. A Trip Report (TR) on your Purgatory exploration. You posted Saturday saying since the weather dudes all suck A** that you were gonna head over and climb. How'd it go?

I was wondering that too. I've seen some other threads that are as long but don't seem to have the same issue.

oh ok, I was thinking TR=toprope

LOL! I never get pissed off at the meteorologists, they have one of the most thankless jobs in the world...let's see, my job is going to be trying to predict the behavious of a boundaryless fluid system that contains so many variables there aren't any computer systems that can model it at 100% accuracy, and everyone will blame me WHEN, not if, the predictions are occasionally wrong.

no thanks...;-)

I posted an adendum on that final entry on the purgatory thread...wound up not climbing, again because of the weather. turns out we all could have met there and gotten in a good day anyway, since it didn't rain until the late afternoon...I was wishing I had all you guys cel numbers to call and let everyone know I was going. I felt bad, since i was the one who originally called it a cancellation, and then the day turned out to be absolutely climbable.

having been there though, I'll admit it did make me a little nervy what with all those kids walking around up at the top, some very near where I was slinging my anchors.

So maybe for peace of mind when we finally do get around to a group there we set up a dedicated rappel line for easy descent and we take turns at the top watching the anchors. A couple of those routes you and I were scoping are close to some reasonably easy places to scramble up and out.

oddly enough, I was having that very idea...well, about guarding the anchors anyway. probably only need it on saturdays though. when I went there on a weekday, there was hardly anybody there.

well, I apologize tyo anybody who went to College Rock today looking for me, but I'm sure you found conditions just as crappy as I did, the entire crag wet fom end to end. wet as in glistening with water on ALL the faces. I couldn't find as single dry hold, walking from one end to the other...

kind of explains why there wasn't anybody there when I got there. wannabeaclimber and I are planning (again) on going tomorrow after work, same as today. hopefully the predicted scattered thundershowers will scatter somewhere else...;-/

Hey all, so again I will ask. There is a small movement afoot to gather at Hammond Pond tonight for some evening climbing. Tcollins is trying to make it, Mickymac1 might be, I'm there, Robb is trying and apparently a whole bunch of the people from the AMC weekly climb are gonna be there as well. Anyone else feel up to it? Weather looks good, hot and dry all day, rain supposed to stay west of 495.

Jeff, Foo, Jake, anyone?

OK, so it looks like I'd be flying solo at Hammond Pond tonight, other than the AMC people I haven't met yet, so I'm gonna find an alternate plan. Depending on what i hear from Rob maybe I'll head to College otherwise maybe a solo boudering mission at QQ which dries pretty quick.
