Well if you'd quit Troll-in-around in those dark muddy holes, you'd still be up to par with us Jeff... well, almost anyway.

Hey everyone, I know it's memorial day, and a beautiful one at that. Unfortunately I'll be working a normal schedule. The good thing is that I plan on going to VE, anyone else interested come on by. I'll be there about 1600. So I get to climb a little.

Hey, Tim, missed you at VE on Monday. I was there at about 5:30, and ran into Kurt as well. The place was dead - most excellent. Me and Bert are thinking about Red Wing this coming Saturday - I hope it'll be as empty as you guys found it last weekend.

Paula.

 Don't count on it pj... Les and I are taking a youth group from his church to the Bluff on Saturday. And, everyone that was out of town for the holiday last weekend, will be back and need somewhere to climb this weekend.

But don't let that stop you. Come on down and join the party!

Ah, Wednesday today... I think I'll be at VE around 6pm-ish. If anyone wants to join me, I'll need someone to trade belays with so I don't have to get bored bouldering.

Good to hear you guys'll be at Red Wing. Saturday is pretty definite for us. Maybe I'll get to do my first outdoor sport lead! (Argh! ) I won't be at VE tonight to belay Dann, but Tim, I should still be on a regular Monday schedule, so I'm pretty sure I'll be there next Mon.

Boy, I'm sorry if anyone was at VE looking for me tonight. Obviously, I didn't make it. Some things came up that I had to take care of and couldn't blow off.

Anyway, pj I've got a beautiful 5.7 ready and waiting for you at Barn Bluff. Sunburst is a lot of peoples first lead there. And we'll have a rope already on it so, if you want to climb it first, before you lead it, you're all set to go.

We'll be kind of "monopolizing" Generic Wall again on Saturday with T-R's set up for our beginners. And by all means, if there is something you want to climb where we have ropes set up, feel free to pull it and re-lead, or just use our T-R.

We may be at the Bluff Friday as well so we can get some climbing for ourselves in too; depending on the weather of course. I'll post later as to what time. It's supposed to rain early AM so, I'm thinking maybe an afternoon session. What-cha-think fo_d???

Check yall la8er ppl...

Sweet, Dann, thanks for the suggestion on route. I figure, too, that Bert can lead stuff, then I can follow as a toprope for my first try at something, then decide if I want to lead it on the next try. (The advantage of having a partner that's better than you!) We'll look for you at Generic Wall.

By the way, where is that? I just noticed it's not on the list of areas in the routes section... is it part of one of the larger walls that are named there?

When you get to the head of the trail you will be looking at "Winter wall" go to the right corner of Winter wall and around the corner for the next 50 yards is "Generic wall"

I think it should be a law that everyone lead or toprope "Sleeping Bat in a Ziplock Bag." That's definitely one of the best if not THE best moderate at the Bluff.

Suicide Squeeze and Work Ethic are both really quality Bluff lines as well.

Come to think of it the whole Cyclops Wall is a pretty decent chunk of dolomite.

Well, those may be "moderates" for you karma but for us, its pretty much the top of the scale!

I've climbed Sleeping Bat many times, and you're right. It is a great route but, I don't climb much harder than that... And truely, the stuff I really enjoy is a good notch below that usually.

Another .10 at the Bluff that is a great route is Jump Start. In fact, I like JS more than SB!

I'd like to break into some easier .11's this summer, but that'll remain to be seen.

I've never set paw on Work Ethic... Maybe later this summer. Us old guys gotta be careful and take it slow. Yer bones get brittle as you get older ya know...

Anyway, Jeff, we'll be looking for ya Saturday morning. Plan to be there all day. Les and I are staying for quite a while after our group of noobs leaves.

heh. Suicide Squeeze and Work Ethic are hard for me too!

Jump Start is fun, but I thought the hard part at the bottom was too akward. Could be just me though. I'm a bit shorter than most.

It's unfortunate that the bluff doesn't have a bigger selection of routes below 5.10. Hell, there aren't many 5.10s for that matter.

The Generic wall is pretty fun though.
