You cannot express your full hossitude while wearing a shirt...in turn hindering your ability to climb. So I guess in a way I am alleergic to my shirt, and besides who doesn't like a lil bit of a nude run?

Taking your shirt off is a mental thing. It gives me a sense of freedom. I like the sun on my back and the cool breeze evaporating the sweat. Its a great way to get a tan and intimidate your best bud. Plus I don't like sitting in a cold wet shirt on the ride home. I guess i could always bring an extra shirt but oh well. rockjunky

Well, since JT512 already inferred, I am an expert on the clothing-removal-at-crag-theory. It started with a lacrosse game in thunder and hail. I'm a goalie and I would have had to wear wet stuff for two back-to-back games, so I started playing in just sports bra and shorts. Now, before games, I'm usually running around in just the ol' sports bra until I have to put the shirt on over my pads. Much freer and less heat from my body trapped. So then I get to climbing, and I WISH I could just wear those tight little tank tops that Prana makes or something and that's it, but no can do. As I said in another post, I get really hot when climbing, so I usually stip down to tank top or sports bra level (though I have a great top from Nike ACG that I can wear alone). Problem is, sometimes I forget to bring some fleece with me and if I'm stuck waiting to belay someone or something, I freeze. When I get really frustrated about not sending a route, I'm usually wearing an extra layer, and upon removal, up we go. I dunno. Superstition? Thank God for the return of three-quarter length sleeves, too. I'm always pushing my sleeves up to that point, too. Too bad I'm not a guy, topless would be great. Though, I think for long trad routes, shirt on is a good idea for the same reasons jmlangford and someone else stated. Just like hiking in the desert in cotton and not topless is good. And for the record, I think clothed guys are just as alluring as topless ones (the way the back stretches the shirt, ohhhh yes). Ye ha!! [ This Message was edited by: maculated on 2002-03-24 14:04 ]
