In reply to: Hey, guys, it absolutely DUMPED up here yesterday (making for Mr. Toad's Wild Ride home, I'll tell ya!), and there's more coming down today. Berthoud is buried, FYI, but of course it'll probably be nutty on Saturday. Front Range spring break starts this weekend. Nutty on Saturday? Are you kidding me?!!! It's been nutty the past two weeks. Last Tuesday was just about as crowded as a weekend. I am thinking Monarch for Saturday. Less crowds etc. I was planning on going for two days, but it looks like Friday I may be doing the interview thing. It is a good thing.... 8^)

killclimbz, I was going through all the awesome photos (also caught your Berthoud TR on ttips). I, too, have a Cody, but her name is Tufa. We got her at the Dumb Friends League, so we have no idea what breed(s) she is and what her story is....really cool to see she may not be alone in the universe!

I drive the pass every day now and it's been a frikkin' traffic jam, even at 7:30 in the morning! What's the interview for? Don't burst my bubble and tell me you're going back into the professional world! Good luck, though, if it's a good job with good pay and LOTS of free freshies time! Back into the professional world :? I work at an IT helpdesk. I think some people call it professional, though many would argue that I am anything but. It should be a good job with good pay. I'll probably be back to the Mon-Fri work week unfortunately, so no mid week TR's to make people jealous. The pay more than justifies the move. On the flip side I WILL HAVE WEEKENDS OFF! Lot's and lots of summer CLIMBING TRIPS!!!

WOW! What a great day again. I'm always impressed by the abilities of this group...thanks for another great day of turns. If you haven't been out with Gary, Steve, or Kim and you ski/ride backcountry, you're missing out on a good time!

Ok forgot to post this, but a tenative date has been set for April 23rd to do the Angel of Shavano on good 'ol Mt Shavano (duh!). Looks like I will be a weekend warrior by then, so I am thinking an early start do the Angel then get a room in Salida, drink some beer, eat some food, then hit Monarch Pass the next day for those that are inclined to ride the BC. Plans are contingent on avy danger and such. Who is in :?:

Well, I got a couple of nice days in April 1&2. On Friday, I went up to Berthoud pass. I had to go fishing for partners as no one was available. One of the best things about BC is that it's a lot like climbing. People are friendly and it's pretty easy to partner up. Case in point, I ran into a group of three in the lot at Berthoud. One of them needed batteries for their beacon, I needed partners. It was a good trade. I had a good time with Brian, Trevor, and Michelle. First drop was good 'ol reliable Sam's Knob. Trevor and Cody making some turns. http://i2.photobucket.com/...005/April1-2002I.jpg Michelle was next. http://i2.photobucket.com/...005/April1-2006I.jpg Then Brian http://i2.photobucket.com/...005/April1-2008I.jpg It was a sunny day, and Michelle enjoyed it while we shuttled a car. http://i2.photobucket.com/...005/April1-2010I.jpg Then we gave Skull Bite a try. It was nice and firm on top so we gave it a go. It turned nice and soft 10 yards from the top. One of the best drops I have had down that line. Michelle agreed. http://i2.photobucket.com/...005/April1-2013I.jpg and so did Trevor. http://i2.photobucket.com/...005/April1-2017I.jpg. 4/2 was spent at Monarch Pass. We actually got to do what I call Pecker bowl on Mount Peck. Here is a look at it from the skin track. http://i2.photobucket.com/...005/April1-2036I.jpg Then after doing some stability checks we went for it. Steve got some. http://i2.photobucket.com/...005/April1-2037I.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/...005/April1-2038I.jpg Then it was my turn. I really didn't find any good snow. You can see from the pictures. http://i2.photobucket.com/...005/April1-2040I.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/...005/April1-2041I.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/...005/April1-2042I.jpg A look at our lines. http://i2.photobucket.com/...005/April1-2045I.jpg Then it was up to the Radio tower bowl for more of the same. Evan, just a little speck coming down the bowl. http://i2.photobucket.com/...005/April1-2051I.jpg and myself near the top. http://i2.photobucket.com/...005/April1-2052I.jpg A look at those lines. http://i2.photobucket.com/...005/April1-2065I.jpg Another great couple of days. Oh yeah and for a bonus, here is a picture of the Angel of Shavano as it currently looks. April 23rd for those who are in, conditions allowing. http://i2.photobucket.com/...005/April1-2029I.jpg

Wow! That looks like fun. I want to learn to tele so bad. Is this one of those things where you have to learn to crawl before you can walk, meaning, can you start learning to ski tele when you don't even know how to ski at all?

Tracy, it is a lot of fun. :D I still suggest learing with an AT setup before you try to tele. Bondage skiing is fun too and is easier to learn fundamentals on. Either way get a wide ski to start, 80mm or larger in the waist. Gary: Where dose pics? 8^)

Go with Vince's advice and do the AT thing. It's by far the most effective method to get the backcountry goods. Tele is by far the hardest of the three disciplines.
