I just got an internship for the summer in Pleasanton, Ca. I'm pretty stoked about the idea. I'll probably be there from mid may until mid july.

Any climbers in the city?

Does anyone know where the nearest gym would be?

What's the closest climbing? What's the best climbing?
The only places I'm familiar with in the area are Castle Rock, and Yosemite.

How is the public transportation? I know BART is good in general, but I don't know how extensive it is. Will I be able to easily make my way down to Santa Cruz (I have family there) for the weekend?

I'll be looking for housing while I'm there. Anyone know anyone who wants to rent out a room to a fellow climber? (edit: I'm a pretty good cook)

Any information would help.

Where in Pleasanton?

The closest climbing to you is Mt. Diablo, and as many know, I detest the place, but you can get by.

The closest "gym" is at Sunrise Mtn Sports in Livermore, but the "real" gym is in Fremont - City Beach, I think is what it's called.

Bart's fine for Bay Area, but good luck getting to SC to see fam or climb at Castle on public transportation.

The job is with Chlorox, but I'm not sure exactly where in Pleasanton they are located.

Thanks for the response.

In Oakland? I'm kidding, but I think WHQ is there. If you mean Clorox. And if you do you probably want to start spelling your employer's name correctly.

Mt Diablo isn't as bad as Kristin thinks. There's also a gym in Concord. And tons of climbing in the Sierra.

Oops... yeah.. I might need to remember the spelling.

I'm not sure where the HQ is, but the new nonwoven division that I am working for is in Pleasanton.

Sorry never scuba dived... but, I'll be happy to go out climbing with you sometime...

Does anyone have an idea what I can expect to pay to rent a room from someone for 2 months? The job is paying very well (extremely well for an internship), so I am wondering how much of my pay will be eaten up by Bay Area cost of living.
