In reply to: Damn Beal. Introducing this thing right after I get a pair of Verdon II's. I still prefer the Verdon's for use as doubles. They're a lot lighter and have way less bobbins.

you know, my thought on a single 9.1mm is that it'll be a bitch to catch falls with, not to mention the durability issues.... of course, if they can do this now, imagine what kind of nifty ropes will be around in 10 years.... my dream would be a thicker line (like 10mm or 9.7 or something along those lines) with the weight of a 9.1, but as durable as the thicker line. that would kick ass.

This is not relevant to my leaving or my pending death. I would appreciate it if you would not hijack my farewell thread. That is really rude. And I know that last post was going to be my last, but I thought of another foreign-language expression for saying goodbye, so this will be my last post. But even if I think of another foreign-language expression for saying goodbye, I will not post again because I have decided that this will absolutely be my final post even if there are other ways to say goodbye. It's time to leave now, and there's no point in dallying. This will truly be my final post and I'm not kidding. This is it, kids. It all ends now. Das vadanya.

A single 9.1mm is going to be best for multi-pitch where falls are rare. Yes, it will wear out sooner, but that is the tradeoff for a lighter rope. As far as catching falls, use a device like jaws. I've caught falls with the jaws with a 8.1mm rope (my partner was leading on doubles, but he fell on the first piece he had placed and only one rope was clipped).
