What is closest crag to redondo beach? Prefer trad crag but bolts will do. Dont know area that well but my travel companion does. He just doesnt know anything about the climbing spots. Thanks.

Not much that's real close by. Redondo's about as far as you can get in the LA area from climbing. Closest places by drive time are Stoney Point and Mt. Rubidoux, both bouldering. For any kind of significant trad, you're looking at Tahquitz/Suicide or Josh, both at 2-3 hours depending on traffic.

malibu canyon and echo cliffs are close to the north, the absolute closest is tick rock up in pacific palisades.

Malibu is probably your best bet. Tic Rock is a bit limited, although what is there is good, but Malibu makes for a very nice day. Echo is getting pretty warm........Malibu and Tic are both sport areas and can be found in Climbing the Santa Monicas by Louie Anderson. Williamson Rock is about an hour and a half away, with a much wider selection of sport routes. Drive the two hours to Suicide/Taquitz. Beautiful time of year and some CLASSIC trad routes.
