Has anyone ever put there climing shoes in the dryer to stretch them out a bit?? I bought a pair of Scarpa Dominator shoes and they are really, really tight. If I put them in the dryer for some time then put them on while the rubber is soft would that work....or would that ruin the rubber for climbing??

Thanks!!

Bad idea, rubber is held on with heat glue and will come off! Put your feet in the dryer instead and then stuff them in the shoes while they are nice and soft.

Well the feet in the dryer didn't work to well. I taped the button so the dryer would run with the door open but it would not get very hot. I then grabbed a plastic bag to cover the opening and when the dryer started the plastic got caught in the dryer and spun around my feet. I reached in to stop it and then my hands got wrapped too. Needless to say, I was tied up in plastic for three hours in the basement until my room came home!!

I love the Darwin awards!!!

Shoe question: try climbing over water or take some extra water to the crag and get the shoes SOAKED and then climb in them. You would be surprised how well the ruber grips when wet. esp mad rock's
