Go Vertical in Philadelphia, Paradise in Denver, and Vertical Hold in San Diego are some of the very best in the nation.

Vertical Reality in New Jersey. website http://www.climbinside.com not the greatest routes, or highest walls, or raddest features, but we have some sweet (and steep) bouldering with a very dedicated problem setter (thanks to rockman157) who will get you STRONG. plus all the staff/owner are all really cool, the place is super relaxed. its more the atmospher than the actual climbing that makes this place so great. check it out if ur ever in S. Jersey mike

On a recent road trip to CO I got to check out a few gyms that puts the Boston gym to shame. The Spot was SWEET - and the Boulder Rock Club kicked #!@*# too. Of course the best part about being in Colorado was getting to climb OUTSIDE in January. . . . and then she woke up.

I dunno about coolest in the world, but the coolest one around me is Vertical Endeavors in Warrenville, IL. Not many other gyms around us, really. A few smaller ones, but they're kind of lame. VE is the only that offers a challenge in climbing/training/etc.

Hate to admit it but I've been to about 10 different gyms. Vertical Endeavors in St. Paul is my favorite (so far). The bouldering areas at Adventure Rock in Pewaukee, WI and Rock'n Jam in Denver are nice.

Been to 15-20 gyms. Climbnasium in Carlise (sp), Pa. by far the quirkiest, coolist little gym I've been too. It's in an old farm barn, with several different rooms of boulder and route problems. The people who own it are way cool and really go out of their way to put on a great comp! But please...more crash mats!!! The high ball problems are wicked. Cool thread..who cares how many gyms you've been too. Post on.. 8)

Never been, but the National Indoor Rock Climbing Center at the Adventure Center in Ratho, Scotland seems good. 30 meter sport routes, an aid wall, bouldering area, and the only covered NATURAL rock in the world...yeah, pretty cool, I guess.

The best climbing gym around is my friend Gym James, Frank James brother. He likes to go by Gymbo or Gymmy James. Gym can crank, hard.

In reply to: I can't believe that after being dead for 2 years and 2 months this lame thread sees new life. It's alive!!!! The best gym by far is The Quarry in Provo, UT. The staff is great, the routes are challenging and changed often. Plus, they are extremely active in developing the local crags and keeping them open.

By far, the best climbing gym that I have ever been to is THE BOILER ROOM in Kingston, ON. This gym has everything!!!! There are a ton of different routes to climb and there is a huge bouldering cave. But the thing that separates this from the rest is THE 100 FOOT TALL CHIMNEY ROUTE!!!!!!!!! The climb is actually inside an old smokestack and is a little over 100 feet high. At the top you get a great view of everything around. This place is a must visit to anyone around the Kingston area!!
I've only been to the NYC climbing gyms (MPHC is the best here, cuz Chelsea is too expensive!) but I'll let you know when I visit some Houston climbing gyms in a few weeks!!
You don't have to go that far-check out The Rock Club in New Rochelle-short hop up the MetroNorth. You will be impressed.

for everybody who is saying ratho (that one in scotland) is the best because it has real rock.... well you don't climb the real rock! it is a RAD gym. very very very cool. but the fact that you can see real rock doesn't make it any better, really. again, i still think its a killer gym, just don't get all stoked to climb real rock.
