I know it is probably not the easiest thing to bring to the site but if you could bring your stero and your favorite music what songs would you bring? What type of genre would it be? Fast and hard for the energy or smooth becase climbing is southing?

What the heck just give me the names of a few good songs.

Personal Favs:

Nickelback - Breath
Fo Fighters - Learn to Fly
All of Good Charlette
Feeder - Buck Rogers
Seether - Fine Again
Bush - Glycerine

The crew I climb with is very specific about pre-climb music. The drive up always ends with Bob Marley.
I and I like Reggae!

Well, for the fast and furious, most anything by Metallica. However, one rather unconventional employee at my gym slipped in some of his James Brown the other day- and "Sex Machine" was really cool to climb to, I must say! "Get up-uh! GET ON UP!" (gotta listen to the man!)

Best climbing music? Anything I can keep to myself.

IMHO few things are worse than somebody blasting the crag with tunes they think everybody likes. I pretty much know that not everybody shares my fickle taste in indie-experimental rock, and I figure it's best to keep it quiet. I appreciate the same from other climbers.

But if I ruled the world, I'd play Mouse on Mars at the sport crag and Unwound at the multi-pitch cliff.

Ooh, climbing music, that's good

Well when I climb indoors, the music is ALWAYS blasting, and it's always been playing, Nickelback, Creed, Sum 41 and all that type of music.

But climbing outside, it's dead quiet. For me, its hard to climb when you can hear every half ass comment about your techniqe, So I'd listen to MY music, trance music, and something a little more soothing, Reggae.

But hey, that's just my style And that's what you asked for.

THe Beastie Boys are a good tune to any type of activity.
They blend soothing with hip hop beats and that b-boy style into one album.
Great stuff to get in the groove to.

ok then... to get pumped At The Drive-In, Mars Volta, etc., however to climb to, i would say radiohead, sigur ros, godspeed you black emporer, sunny day real estate, dj shadow, any good jazz cd (miles, and the like) and the new wilco album is pretty good too. thats just my opinion though... my girlfriend would say however, badly drawn boy, or elliot smith.

Definitely not cool to play music at the cliffs dudes. Scares all the birds away. There`s nothing like sitting up at the belay waiting to bring the second up to join me and I`m getting bored outta my brain when suddenly out of the corner of my eye I see a flash of colour. There`s another, a flock of finches streaks past not two feet in front of me.

Then there`s the wedge tailed eagle swooping down the face of the cliff and then what about that dislodged stone descending with a sound like a meteor to crash and shatter in a million bits which then shower the forest far below.

The sounds of distant cows lowing in the afternoon torpor, a dog barking from afar, leaves rustling, all my senses coming alive to the sounds of nature around me and then some brainless twit starts up BANNANANUH doosh doosh BANNANANUH boomptitty boomp DOOSH Bannaananuh etc, ad nauseum, ad infinitum.

Yup listen to the cliff/rock/everything including your partner but leave the boom box at home.

...Phil...
