Most take security over love, and just luck out when the two coincide.

Love such an over-romanticised notion anyways. It is what it is, and not necissarily what I think it should. I can generally except that and recognize that it's a good thing and enjoy it. Like I said, p[eople need security before love, but love is romanticized more, so everyone at some point or another seems to mistake love for security. Some just do it more consistantly than others.

I'm a romantic at heart. I believe love is the great motivator and that it can be found at the basis of desire. Desire for company, desire for possesions, desire for hatred.

Kris -- I read an awfully interesting theory about romantic love once: that it was invented by one church or another as a way to encourage people to pair up permanently/get married. Women were taught not to sleep with men unless they were "in love". This, of course, was a huge motivator for men to fall in love. The reason for all of it was that single men, being a drunken, rowdy, fist-fighting bunch, were a threat to society. Being married calmed them down and kept them in line.

So now, after centuries of being taught that our main goal in life is to meet someone else and fall in love, we all automatically believe in this thing and spend large portions of our lives hanging out in singles bars looking for our "soulmates".

I think that theory hits the nail squarely on the head for a large part of the modern concepts on what love is.

I won't that love doesn't exist, only that people can thow all the labels they want at the relationships they have, but despite wishful thinking, a relationship is what it is. Maybe the relationship is love, but from what I see in the way most people treat eachother, it always looks like escapism more than anything. People who can't stand being alone, who instead of looking for someone who makes them happy, look for someone who will tolerate them and that they in turn can tolerate.

I totally agree with fiend.

Everything is for love. Shall I dive into this deeper? Okay...

For the love of...

hate, passion, money, cars, women, art, climbing, prunes....

You love everything, that is the point.

Steve

"all ya need is love" waaaaait a second..
yes, i guess everything does kinda happen b/c of a love for something or someone...you do something greedy it's b/c you love yourself, you do something nice it's b/c you love someone else. i don't believe in love at first site (maybe that's off the subject...hmm)...i think it's overated. i think hollywood's version of love is ridiculous. love is not how good you look or how athletic or hot you are...love is about what's inside. okay, i'm getting way off on a totally different idea....anyone that wants my discourse on true love, send me a PM...laters!
