I just ordered the mad rock locos from climbing shoes.com. Living in Nebraska there are no climbing stores around so i couldn't try them on. The gear reviews say to order a half a size bigger then your street shoe, i wear a size 13 street shoe and 13 was the biggest size they have. Does anyone own a pair? Will they be small? Also if they are to small I can only get store credit. If i were to return them i would have to go for the Mad Rock flash. Are they also small? If anyone has any info on ether of these shoes it would be appreciated! Thanks.

I think that you will find them to be a bit small. I usually buy mine one size larger from that particular manufacturer. If they're really tight don't be lured into thinking they will stretch out. The damage that you do your feet will far outweigh the loss of a few dollars for the right fit.

I think you might be okay with your street size. I wear size 10.5-11 street shoes and have worn 3 different styles of MadRock shoes... all size 10.5.

Holy-crap!!!!! I wear size 13 street shoes, but a size 12 in my Mad Rock flash's. I'm fine in em' though I wouldn't ever go jogging in them...or wear them around town. I don't buy into the "buy them comfortable" thing, I say suck it up and you won't have to worry about it before too long.

Loco's won't strech since they are lined. They kinda mold to your foot. I went half a size up and they hurt every time I put them on. Not enough for me to buy a size bigger gut enough to know that they are there.

The locos will probably hurt some no matter what. They are syntheic and sao won't stretch much and they have an aggressively assymetrical and downturned toe... not a natural position. The flash are built on a more comfortable last. Bottom line is what do you need them to do... a less technical shoe will most likely be more comfortable. Good Luck

I also bought a pair of Mad Rock Locos through climbingshoes.com. Even after trying on some Mugens at a local shop and ordering the size that fit, they were still too tight for my tastes. I wear size 8.5 in Mythos and ordered the locos in 9 and it was still a struggle to get them on and I couldn't walk up stairs in them without wincing. So I sent them back for the 9.5. Unfortunately, climbingshoes.com won't have them in 9.5 for at least a few weeks (I guess they are moving to a new location). So, I know for a fact that sizes, even within the same manufacturer, will not necessarily transfer, esp for different types of climbing shoes. And that nothing can replace actually trying them on before you buy. And that, while $50 for shoes that look cool on-line might seem like a great bargain, they won't be if they don't fit. I sort of think that after wearing Mythos for years that I am expecting a really comfortable shoe, when a more aggressive shoe should not be something that you will want to wear unless you're on the rock. But, man, those things hurt. :? I hope you have better luck than I!

I wear a street 13 in Merrell and Asics, and my Flashs in a 13 were snug as hell at first...great fit now. I still dont like MadRock, but I hope that gives you an idea for sizing. Cheers, Jim

The Locos hurt plain and simple. They do get a little better. I wear a 9-9.5 street shoe 8.5 in mythos 9 in locos. I regretted buying them for a while because I couldn't even climb in them, I just wore them in my dorm room alot while doing homework, bent my toes up alot, sweated in them, just tried to get used to them, then one day at the gym i stuck my toe in the tinest little divit and stood up on it, it wasn't the most comfortable thing but it was awesome, I enjoy the shoes quite a bit now theonlynebraskaclimber .. where in nebraska do you live, I am originally from Le Mars Iowa (near Sioux City) I am in Iowa City for college - what is there to climb in Nebraska ?

Disclaimer--> A suprisingly large number of people wear street shoes in the wrong size. While women are particularly bad, men often cram their toes into running shoes that are too small. The fabric in the toes doesn't cramp their foot because it's often breathable and stretchy. Particular Question--> Loco's will fit smaller than the flash. I would get flashes because you can go through a few weeks of painful sessions to stretch the out if they are too small (i prefer to get them a little wet and wear them around).

I own the Locos as well as Mugens and Hookers. All are the same size as my street shoes. The Locos will be very tight at first, but will break-in a little. Expect your toes to still be squished even after that though.
