I am planning on climbing El Matador on Devils Tower this summer and have been told that it is much easier if you are tall. How tall are they talking? Is 5-8 tall or are they talking 6-5? Any input would be grand.

6-0 for me wasn't too bad. Being flexible and knowing how to crack climb are probably more important.

I'm 5.9 and found the route to be splendid. Don't worry about it! Just enjoy the route.

You don't need to stem. A munchkin could climb the lerft fingers/hand crack, rest on the odd wrist locking jam, use the numerous edges out right, and easily place medium-larger nuts. Leave your cams at home if you want to. This climb rules. The pitches before and after the crux are also very fun. -enjoy!

I liked the stemming. I'm 6' and had to jam quite a ways to get into a comfy stem. Jamming is an option but you can do that on a lot of other DT's routes. It's a classic route in any case.
