I'm hearing rumors and need clarity. Is it true that prAna has sold out to "the man"?

but my question is still the same. what of the morals that prAna stand for. i realize with this new owner they switched to using air generated power and supplying AF with it as well, but what about everything else?

does anybody ever use the "search" function on this website? prana was sold to Liz Claiborne. search for it and then you can read the pages upon pages of crap people wrote about it. and no, I'm not going to include a link to that thread, find it yourself. there, now you've done it - turned a habitual lurker into a poster. damn.

Now why would we want to search...when we have other people who will just tell us?

I'm so excited.... now perhaps I can get some matching shoes and purses to go with all my prAna gear! I can see it now, little leather Claiborne chalk bags and scented rock slippers... damn, I should call them with my marketing strategy.

I find it hard to look at Prana as a sell out. Good companies grow and often reach a point where the founder no longer wants to assume the risk. In this case, Prana found a buyer that would respect their culture but provide the stability they desired. If you're out to criticize companies that have lost their soul then start somewhere else and do a little more research so that your opinion is at least a bit more informed (that way longtime lurkers don't have to reveal their secret identities).

Yes, its true...climbers, hippies, and liberal democrats will all sell out for the right price. It's business. Not everyone has the ethics of Patagonia, money is the way of the world. The only question you should be asking is this: Is the product I'm buying a fair value? Then you too may become a believer in capitalism, in-turn get rich, sell-out and live in a gated community. Just be sure that the gates are protected by Constantina wire.

This is why i believe money to be the root of most evil. I tend to support companies who are not out there to get rich and make their millions, but are out there to better those around them. Companies who respect others and their enviroment. And just maybe i'll have to take the time to seek out my own answers.

Start a business, or even a nonprofit, and see how much of your time you get to spend thinking about bettering those around you and how much time you spend thinking about sales and profits. Also, why do we give a shit about prana? They don't make climbing equipment.

I do own a business! My focus is not on profits, but rather the wellness of the individuals I come in contact with. My vision is to better the world one person at a time.
