Flagstaff got a touch of SNOW. Holy cow. but today it is gone.
Not Good for skiing but the climbing is great everywhere.
I would count on the USFS closing the forests again this summer.
Travel or learn to love the Gym when it is nice outside.

Usually because of an ongoing fire, or a dramatically high fire danger. This winter has been very dry, and the whole darn state is like a big tinder box, ready to burn at even the sight of a match.
Areas affected can vary, but the Forks, the Pit, and Priest Draw are all distinct possibilities. Dunno about Jacks or Lemmon.

Well, Fearless will not have to worry about all the bad hangers here in Arizona once he is shut out of all the climbing areas by the fires.

The USFS shuts the forest down because people start fires. A very large majority of fires are started by people, like camp fires, chainsaws, ATVs, and guns. All that fun stuff on the forest.
Climbing areas affected in Flagstaff? ALL. Thats right. Jacks, Pit, Forks, Elden, Priest Draw, Overlook.

If you all are done spewing spray, maybe you should just SHUT UP AND CLIMB!
Would love to hook up with some climbers in the prescott area to maybe go to forks or the pit on the weekends. Maybe even some local areas like the dells or the promised land.

hi there,
i posted this elsewhere, but no replies yet, so i'll try again. i'll be in sedona this weekend (march 18-19th) and have to work in the AM on the 18th, but would love to get some climbing in otherwise.

Hey all,
I have a couple of weeks off of work and am looking to get on some climbs. I am in Tucson, might be going up to queen creek in a few days, basically I am pretty much open. Let me know if anyone is looking to climb this weekend or during the week, thanks! I have a sport rack, can lead into the mid 10's but would love to follow some trad.

I'm going to be in Tucson on the first and am staying for at least a month, with a (sort of) flexible schedule. I'm interested in doing some sportclimbing and maybe bouldering in the area--Mt. Lemmon, Isle of You, Queen Creek--and would love to get out with some locals, if anyone needs a partner.
Also, a few questions:
I have the AZ Falcon Guide, but it's kind of old and incomplete. Many of the newer sport areas aren't in it. I heard that there's an up to date guide to Mt. Lemmon available at the Summit Hut. Is that true?
Same comment on Queen Creek--I can't find a guide. Does the Summit Hut or somewhere in Phoenix have one? What about a bouldering guide?
Finally, I heard some noise about closures on Mt. Lemmon due to fire hazard and raptor nesting. Anyone know about this?
Thanks! And again, if anyone out there needs a climbing partner starting the 1st, let me know.

I'll be in queen creek this saturday and maybe sunday doin some sport. Maybe in yakov wall or the mine area. Any of you guys up for that, I'd be happy to take 1 or 2 others, just pm me. Probably start on .8 or .9 and get on a .10 and hopefully an .11. If my buds cant go, I'm going to binghamland or tinkerbell wall for some bouldering.

Hi AZ folks...
I'll be in the Tempe/Phoenix area for a conference on April 22-28.
But I'll actually be free on Saturday afternoon April 22, Sunday April 23 all day and Monday April 24 all day.
I'd love to explore some of the local climbing. Can anyone point me and my buddy (unless you are willing guide us) to some easy sport climb areas (I can lead sport up to some 5.9) or areas where a top rope setup is relatively simple and accessible (will top top 5.10 and some 5.11, but my climbing partner likes to stay in the 5.7 yo 5.9 area).
Although I've taken a basic anchor building class at J-tree, I have no experience in trad climbing and very little trad gear with which to set up anchors (but might buy a few key pieces if I have to).
Your help would be much appreciated.
If you feel like joining us and showing us the crags, we can provide transportation from the Tempe area.
