I've used there FCUs. They work. I own 3 in the smaller sizes. I think the Trango Flex cams are better. Maybe even cheaper. If you like the Trango FCUs you'd better hurry though i think trango stoped making them in favor of the flex cams. I've only been able to find the FCUs on the cheap foreign websits. I think they just bought the rest of the stock so when there gone there gone. Although I have suspected for a while now, but i have yet to sit down and prove it, that the Rock Empires are basically the same as the Trango FCU. Just updated. I have used both and if memory servs me they where very similar.

I have a full set of Trango cams. I love the fact that they have the doubled up slings on them that lets you extend them. I havent had any complaints about them since ive owned them

The bigger Rock Empire 4CUs have the inner cams so close together, they tend to walk. Don't know if the Trango machines are also like this. An extra 2-foot sling on the cam pretty much solves the problem.

The Trango cams are pretty close together which could let the cam walk a bit. I do like the doubled up sling. I have used them and had no problems and the price is right.

If you're looking for a cheaper cam. Try Clog. They are basicaly WC cams. Nice wide heads. I really like mine.

The single stem cams on acmeclimbing.com are the same as the Trango flex cams. At 219.00 a set, you can't go wrong in my opinion.

I agree re: the Clog cams. For cheap cams they're the best I've seen, they are a one-generation-old version of the Wild Country Tech Friends which have wider heads and are thus more stable. Check out www.rei-outlet.com. josh

Cams - you get what you pay for. I think the trango cams suck. If you want to go cheap get the WC rigid friends. WC flexible friends and DMM cams are good and light. Camalots are the most bomber. Remember - just my opinion. casey

Huddy Sport in the Czech Republic makes Cams for Trango, Rock Empire and Camp. They also make some gear for Petzl. Some of the Trango and Camp 4 cams are made in Korea, I think, too. I have heard a few bad things about the U- style Trango and Camp cams, so I went with the flex cams. The #9 Trango 4 cam looks like an acident waiting to happen it is so narrow! I like my Flex cams, but the smaller sizes have pins instead of cam stops. I recently took a fall on a Metolius where the cam stops saved me. I think they have put cam stop on all the flex cams now, but that doesn't fix mine. I ordered some Robot cams, but shipping got loused up and I couldn't get them in time for the trip I was taking. They are cheaper, from the same factory and compareably designed. I really want a full set of Metolius Fat cams, but I am not a rich Engineer yet.
