Hi, I'd like to known if someone is aware of a shuttle service from Calgary (Canada) to the Bugaboos ?? I'm planning a trip there this summer and try yo find different alternative to get there when in Calgary. edit : we are a group of 4 person and we plan to go there for 2 weeks. Renting a car is over between 1000 to 1500 $CA... a little bit expensive ! Thanks a lot !

I don't know about any shuttles, but you might want to search MEC's Outdoor Gear Swap page, specifically Trip Partners. Often there are people looking for driving partners. Maybe you can find something there. The link is: http://www.mec.ca/Apps/outdoorGearSwap/gearswap_main.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=1408474396038596&FOLDER%3C%3EbrowsePath=1408474396038596 Good luck. The Bugaboos are beautiful. Enjoy.

It looks like there is bus service to Radium by Greyhound. Takes just under 4 hours and is $90 (CDN). But then you'd still have to thumb it into the park. Bryan

Haha You're in for a treat. I've never rented a car in Canada, but I suspect driving that road would violate your renting agreement. There is helicopter service, but it'll cost you more than the rental car. Thumbing a ride could be a long wait...it's not exactly Indian Creek you're talking about, and the time I was there, we had our car packed to the gills anyway...no room for four extras. Where are you coming from?

i hear tales about the porcupines in the parking lot too...don't they eat all the insulation on your wiring if you aren't careful and chicken wire off the car ? would this be covered in the rental agreement i wonder...

When are you going? I'm seeing two week rentals in July from Thirfty for under $700 on Orbitz. Expedia is showing fullsizes from around $600. Or you could fly to someplace like Spokane and rent a car from about $400.

As it has been said before, a Greyhound bus or your thumb will quite easily get you to the beginning of the logging road. But from there its 45km of dirtroads to the trailhead. and not that many people that travel them. Im sure if someone sees you walking up that road they will stop and do whatever they can to help you out.

You're dreaming if you think any climber, as cool as they may be, is going to stop and give a ride to the bugaboo parking lot for 4 people. Every time I've driven to that lot I've had my truck packed to the gills with my, and my partners stuff. Hitchhiking may be possible, but it would take days for 4 people to get in, let alone try get out again.

http://www.cmhski.com/...aboos_mountaineering Your best hope for finding info on a shuttle is going to be through CMH. They have a lodge located 3km from the parking lot. I'm sure they offer a shuttle to their clients. Good luck.

You're right, a group of 4 is big for hitchhiking and no one would pick them up. But if you are flexible you can split the group and meet at the hut once youve all got a ride. But it would suck to be the one left behind who ends up walking all the way :( The CMH idea isnt bad but their guests are helicoptered in from Spillimacheen. But staff does go up and down the road on a regular basis.
