Hm. There's loads of climbing everywhere in S. France. If you know which city near the sea, I can give you better beta. If you're on holiday, I guess that you will be on or near the côte d'azur which is the most popular vacation spot. Best climbing area nearby is Calanques: http://www.bonnegrimpe.com/calanque.html http://www.bonnegrimpe.com/photos/panoramique.jpg I don't have any beta on that area, but you could try a pm to UASunflower or to cracklover - I know they spent some time there last year. Let us know once you're sure where you're headed. Cheers, Taz

Attention: normally, climbing in Les Calanques is prohibited during the summer (fire hazard). It would be very, very hot anyway. However, there's plenty of climbing to be done. Gorges du Tarn is very nice and very famous. But the list is endless: Seynes for tufa climbing (hot in the summer I think, very little shade), Orpierre for great atmosphere and very safe protection, Buoux, Omblèze,.... And of course Ceüse for hardcore sport climbing. Complete guide to climbing in France: http://www.cosiroc.org/ Have fun, L.
