IF THE BIBLE AND CHRISTIANITY WERE NOT THE TRUTH Why would anyone turn down a chance to have eternal life with no more pain, sorrow, or suffering? Why is teaching Christianity, and having a Bible illegal in some countries? Why, if you were to get a letter in the mail from the FBI, you would read it a number of times over. Then you would probably have a friend reread it to see if he gets the same idea of what it says to do, as you did. The Bible contains the words of God, with much evidence to prove it is the truth. Of how much more importance is the words of God, than any letter. Have you taken the time to read and study it? Why are people in the atheistic community so opposed to having creation taught in our schools? If evolution can disprove creation, why don’t they allow the two to be taught together. Then let the students decide for themselves which is the most reasonable explanation for this world’s existence. The atheist, and people in left wing politics talk about hurting someone’s feelings by the teaching of Biblical creation. Well, what about the Christian who is offended by the teacher telling him he evolved from an ape, millions of years ago? The only logical explanation for these things, is the existence of the great deceiver, the Devil. He dose not want people to come to a knowledge of the truth. This is because the only way he can get back at God, for casting him out of heaven, is to keep people from knowing what they must do to be saved. (2 Timothy 2:25-26) If you are interested in what you must do to be saved from the judgment to come, I will tell you what, and where you can find what God has commanded us to do. Please take the time to read these verses for yourself. First, we must hear that Jesus came to this earth and lived a perfect, sinless life, and died on the cross. When he was on the cross God’s wrath was taken out on him, instead of the people that will obey his gospel. Then when he was buried, he rose three days later and is in heaven raining as the king of kings. (Romans 10:17), (Matthew 7:24-27) Second, we must believe the message of Jesus to be true, that he was the Son of God, or God in human flesh, and has risen back to heaven. (Hebrews 11:6), (Mark 16:15-16) Third, we must repent of our sins, making a constant effort to turn from wrong, and do what is right. (Acts 2:38), (Acts 17:30), (Luke 13:3) Fourth, we must confess with our mouth our belief in Jesus as Lord. (Matthew 10:32-33), (Acts 8:36-37) Fifth, we must be immersed in water, or baptized for the remission, or forgiveness of our sins. This also adds us to Jesus Church. (Acts 2:38), (Acts 22:16), (1 Peter 3:20-21), (Acts 10:48 Notice this is a command, not a work of man.), (Acts 2:41-47 Example of people being added to the Church by baptism.) Last we must remain faithful to Jesus until our death. (Revelation 2:10)

What has this got to do with climbing? At least post it in community, not general! Oh, and while we are on the subject.....what do you think of the just released Gospel of Judas?

Where are the moderators today? This is not climbing related at all. I'll bet this person reproduced this same rant all over the Internet.

sorry buddy, you must have mistaken this board for biblethumpingcirclejerk.com. oh well, I suppose more poised folks than myself will chime in and make this thread worth reading. I recently have come to the conclusion that if god exists, he is a real twisted fvcktard for making such a cruel world. don't try to tell me that the world is a bad place because Eve ate some important fruit. who would torture innocent people for thousands of years over something like that? I'm tired of being god's little lab rat. suicide is the best option.

I'm all for stirring the pot, challenging assumptions, and having some friendly and intelligent debate. Unfortunately, I rarely see friendly or intelligent debates where anyone's personal spiritual beliefs are concerned. While I'm suspicious of the fact that you joined the board eight days ago, I might be willing to give you the benefit of the doubt about your intentions. Still, it seems like a poor choice on your part to make a post of this nature, considering how new you are here. Regardless, It would be nice if this thread doesn't go straight into the toilet, but I don't have high hopes. I'm guessing the moderators are going to be a little busier than usual.

There is going to be a huge Satanfest 06/06/06!!! Days of debauchery, sacrifices, music, alcohol and drugs. Apparently it will be BYOG (bring your own goat) but the festivities should be worth it. RJ

Why do I get bombarded with this stuff at every turn! Did you ever stop and consider your religion was not the first nor the last, and especially not the only. Look how many times the bible has been rewritten and some of the people that have rewritten it. Look how it portrays women-sad. I don't have a problem with what you do, I just have a problem of where you post it, besides most climbers are godless heathens. Thanks but no thanks. Go Home. Sincerely Heathen Trad Climber

Although I agree with what the OP has said (with the exception that baptism is a necessary part of salvation, but my point isn't to argue semantics of the bible) I think he's gone about it in the wrong way. Yes it's good to get out there and share what you believe in, and people have the right to argue. However, why would you put it in a rock climbing forum, with no reference to climbing whatsoever? Don't get me wrong, I agree with you and I am a Christian, however, your methods probably aren't the most effective. And for the record, Moses free soloed Mt. Sinai twice (he had to go back up and rewrite the commandments after smashing the golden calf with the first set) and somewhere in Ezekiel (can't remember exact verse) it says we should be nimble as the mountain goats are. So it's biblical to be a rock climber.

Why do you think baptism is not necessary to be saved?

In reply to: I'm all for stirring the pot, challenging assumptions, and having some friendly and intelligent debate. Unfortunately, I rarely see friendly or intelligent debates where anyone's personal spiritual beliefs are concerned. Yeah, why is that. ...and so much of the time the sharing of one's spiritual beliefs is meant to be helpful, friendly, and to benefit the recipient. Yet we all get so defensive we're even offended when someone comes up and offers to share what they've learned with us. Yeah, I know, big inconvenience that this guy posted a link that will briefly be on the rc.com home page, but really, no skin off my back. Maybe he's got a message worth hearing... or at least a good story of an epic where he's convinced, God saved his a$$. I know I've been there. Well, before I'm burned at the stake with the rest of the forum contaminators, I bid you, carry on... - bret May all who have the energy, pursue some sort of truth, whatever it may be. And for the rest, may there be compassion.

First this should be in comunity. Second, with your attitude of the only religion is Christianity is probabaly what will send you to Hell if there is one. This is way a lot of people do not like Christianity. Look what happend in Latin and South America and what is still going on. A lot of Chrisitans are ignorrant and that is their undoing. Thirdly, you say you are a Bible scholar, well good for you. Have you read any other religion books. Books about Buddhism, the Islam religion, how about the ancient Greek religions, or even the Torah. You have probabaly read the Torah though, since you are a Bible scholar and the Torah and Bible overlap. Also, if you want to criticize my post go head. If you think I am the ignorant one go head. You know why I really do not care is because I attend Christian schools, specifically Catholic schools as a student, so I know A: what you are talking about and B: about the attitudes of many Chrisitians, again specifcally Catholics. I agree on one poin is this thread and that is that Moses is down right a hardcore MF. He even did it without O2
