Having just spent a year in the Pensacola area I can sympathize with your situation!! There are indoor gyms in Pensacola and Tallahassee, and Sand Rock AL is a great climbing area 4-5 hours north. I would recommend picking up a copy of the Dixie Craggers Handbook, it covers AL and GA and there may be some areas closer to you then Sand Rock. Other then that enjoy the panhandle

My friends and I are in the SW Florida area. We go on a trip to Sand Rock AL every three months and hit the various FL climbing gyms in between.

When are you coming to FL? Maybe we can meet up some time and climb. I have one vet buddy who wants to get back into climbing, you guys could share service stories ;-)

There is a climbing all in tallahassee (about two hours away) but the diving is awesome! Go see Mike Gomez at Panama City Dive center and he can hook you up on a dive class and get you going.

Welcome to Panama City!

Tallahassee has a pretty active climbing community. They usually take several trips a season, maybe 1 every other month. Favorite spots include Horsepens 40, Sandrock, Foster Falls, Little Rock City, Obed, and Moss Rock to name a few.

The owner of the gym in Tallahassee is actually planning a climbing trip to Thailand right now and he is looking for people to go. If you'd be interested in that sort of thing give the gym a call.

Firefighter

You're in luck! You'll be able to bag Florida's high point, Britton Hill, with ease from you new location! Heck, you can make a daytrip of it and at 345ft. above sealevel, you can leave the O2 at home
