I will be attending a conference in San Francisco Monday - Wednesday. I want to sneak away and get in some easy solo sport leads. Are there any such opportunities within a few miles of downtown SF?

If you're talking about anything besides the gym the short answer is no. Mission Cliffs is at 19th and Harrison if that's your thing. Otherwise, Beaver street wall offers about 50 feet of climbing. You can tie your rope between the fence at the top and a lightpost at the bottom and self-belay yourself up the 5.9 on the left and 5.10 on the right. There will be some slack in your line as the lightpost is not directly at the base. Keeps things interesting. Beaver street is a little side street between 15th and 16th i think, with Castro as the cross street. It is in the Bay Area guidebook. good luck.
