Anyone sport climbed in Telluride? I'm heading out for a vacation in the durango / telluride area and would like to fit in a day of climbing in the 5.9 - 5.10d range. Can anyone point me to a worth while craig?

If your going to be in the durango area check out East Animas or Golf Wall. You can find the guide to durango to help you out, I think its called Durango Sandstone or something or else the general Colorado guidebook has some routes at the Golf Wall. Ive never climbed in telluride before, but I've heard its really good. My colorado guidebook shows some crags called Atomic Energy Crag and Lost World Crag which both seem to have plenty of sport routes in the range your looking for. Hope this helps.

I'll be there too looking to climb one of Aug 17, 18, and 19. My son and I are in exactly the same range as you: up to upper 10's. Any Coloradans in the area want some fun and eager partners one of those days? Or do you know of a local guide we might hit up? Thanks for any advice . . .

Here is a more comprehensive website for the climbing in and around telluride... http://www.charliefowler.com/climbing.html Charlie Fowler wrote the local guide book. Most of the sport climbing is at the end of the valley near the water falls and up Bear Creek. Trad can be found at Ophir wall and down the valley near norwood.

Thanks for the website tips. BTW, Fowler's site has a bad URL for a very useful page (links to stores to get his books, guide services, etc.). Here's the fixed URL: http://www.mountainworldmedia.com/links.html
