life's little disappointments

-My favorite Indian-food restaurant (for the last 8 years) changed owners. The food went from good to just mediocre. Then today I swoop in after work to pick up my weekly take-out, and they inform me they no longer allow take-out on the buffet. WTF?? I tell them that's stupid and they'll lose 1/2 their business, including mine.

-My market has replaced my favorite crackers with a crappy impostor in a nearly identical box. (Bought two boxes before I figured it out.)

-My coffee shop stopped carrying raspberry scones.

-Has anyone else noticed that the cheese in Macaroni and Cheese tastes different? Cheaping out on their artificial cheese-like powder stuff I say.

*(sigh)*

This is probably a sign from the gods to stop eating like a 10-year-old isn't it?

My favorite coffee shop near Washington Park, the Perk and Pub, secretly sold out to some faceless new owner that turned the place into a restaurant. The old guy I met in front while I was doing my laundry next door was a small investor in the business. He had no idea what was going on.

Recently I had cause to spend a couple of days in Sydney. Man is it expensive to eat there. I paid $6 for half a bowl of corn flakes for brekky. They make all the food look fancy but only give you half servings at twice the price. Grrrrr, gimme real food already.

I spend $10 for a Philly Cheesesteak sandwhich today that was microwaved and served to me on flat bread. It took every ounce of restraint in my being not to throttle the person handing me the plate.

THIS IS A CHEESE STEAK YOU FECKLESS CRETINS!

Well, I slept on it, and I'm STILL pissed off they don't do take out any more.

My brain simply refuses to accept this reality.

I'll cook some killer Indian food for you, chica, but I can't guarantee it's freshness on arrival.

Don't sweat it - you can't get decent Indian food anywhere in LA. Being from London I know about such things.

Indian restaurants in the US lack the correct ambience. To fully appreciate a curry it has to be 2am and the restaurant has to be full of 'boisterous' young males enjoying their 13th pint of Stella Artois whilst loudly pretending that they have, at one time, had sex with someone other than themselves.

Vindaloo, anyone?

My *little* disappointment tops all y'alls. Our office is in an old factory building, and the first floor has been vacant since we moved in there several years ago. One day, we were informed that it had been bought by some dudes who wanted to put in a pub (a pub!!!) in our office building. This too-good-to-be-true idea was reinforced in our gullible minds for almost a year before it finally got nixed when the deal fell through. Now the first floor might just end up being a massive storage space. Talk about a freaking disappointment!!

Um- yeah. My thought exactly.

I already posted my nightmare story about cold fried chicken in the back of a pickup over in that "worst 1st date" thread.

Booger doesn't even know what robster craws are, either.

It's not robster craws ... it's TIGER CLAW!! Don't you people know your kung fu?

Oh - and thanks blondie, that picture is a fine representation of my mad "lady-like" skillz

On a side note, I do cook fabulous Indian food... my mum is Indian and you don't grow up eating curry every night without pickin' up a thing or two. Unfortunately, I don't think it would survive the trans-Atlantic flight very well.

I know ladies get boogers, too. What they do with them is another thing. Some wipe them on their shirt tails. I AM SERIOUS. I observed this once down in Mexico while caving. Shocking, I tell you.
