Anyone have plans or a source for an industrial grade hot knife? Got a couple ropes and web to retire/recycle. Thanks Uncle Old 8^)

so your looking to cut some rope is that the geist I always just use a torch and a putty knife with a board behind it. Not really that hard heat the knife with the torch then cut.

The besta dvice I can give you for a quick and dirty solution, effective with minimal investment: lock a razor blade in a pair of Visegrips, heat it up on the stove, and cut away to your heart's content. Or go to your local climbing shop and borrow theirs. Or, buy this one http://www.wildcatcommerce.com/...andwebbingcutter.jpg

Thanks for the link. Was hoping to avoid buying one but may have to stop being so cheap. Actually have allot of web and rope to recycle.

I just used an old butter knife heated on the stove. I've been thinking though that the hot knife is pretty much just a soldering gun. I don't see why you couldn't take a gun (pistol shaped ones that sell for about $30, not the cheap pen types) and put it in a vise. There have got to be people out there who've done this.

yeah, it's basically a base/switch instead of a soldering gun/trigger, but i can't find anyone who sells the cutting tips. i bet grainger would have them...
