I agree with the first half of your statement, but climbing out of a window is, clearly, climbing.

In reply to: I agree with the first half of your statement, but climbing out of a window is, clearly, climbing. yes and yes, but if he had been a "climber" he probably wouldn't have fallen. there is a decent chance he'd be smoking that $H*t though. hell, if he'd been a climber, they'd have found him on the roof.

It would really be nice if one of the mods would take Majid aside and explain to him that this is rockclimbing.com, NOT randompeoplefallingfromhighplaces.com. JL

As always, I run across another one of Majid's award winning posts and I have no "awards" to fling. :? The one thing he did get right in the title of this post was "shit".

majid, you missed this one! Swiss authorities blame conflict in double falls death. Meiringen: The bodies of two British men who perished at Reichenbach Falls Tuesday remain unrecovered in a search effort conducted by Swiss SAR teams as of today. It is unclear as to the exact events of the incident, since there were no witnesses to it, but investigators are piecing together the loose ends using what evidence can be found at the scene. "There were two sets of footprints leading to the verge, and none returning," Says Switzerland SAR Chief Anderhl Meyer, "and a few yards from the end the soil was all ploughed up into a patch of mud, and the branches and ferns which fringed the chasm were torn and bedraggled." An examination by experts leaves little doubt that a personal contest between the two men ended, as it could hardly fail to end in such a situation, in their reeling over, locked in each other's arms. Another source states that a hand-written note was left under an alpine-stock at the scene by one of the men, allegedly to a traveling companion who had earlier returned to the hotel on an errand. "Any attempt at recovering the bodies was absolutely hopeless, deep down in that dreadful caldron of swirling water and seething foam," Meyer stated.

In reply to: Yeah, but that incident happened ~114 years ago :? But it is still just as applicable to 'climbing injuries' as the original post, no matter how old! That same thing could happen again and again unless we learn the lessons from it.

never mind, just got the votes and did it myself. and a few others as well while i was at it... anyway, is that swiss story really 100+ years old? some parts do read like something a bit older (cauldrond and whatnot), but 'SAR' definitely smells a bit like something youd read in todays newspaper.

Why the hell does it matter? And if he fell three stories, how would he have been "solving" a "bouldering" problem? Seems to me that falling on your head isn't exactly finding a solution.

Considering some of the threads I've seen on RC.com regarding climbing college dorms and other school buildings, I think this thread has at least some relevance. Drunken dumbasses beware. You're not cool. You're just drunk and dumb.

Are you too busy ambulance chasing to even read the stuff before you post it? http://www.asuwebdevil.com/...06/09/27/news/697913 The ONLY climbing he was doing was out the window!!!!! Even if he was a climber, how can this even be considered climbing related? If a climber falls of his roof while fixing it does that make it a climbing accident?
