It runs faster. that is all I truly care about. It still runs to slow IMO, but MUCH better. You are just used to the old site. Everybody will get used to it.

I tried to add the last few climbs I've done to my list of ascents, and the form won't allow me to record the ascent if I don't "completely fill it out." All I want is a list of the routes I've done, and the style I climbed them in, so that when I have a prospective new partner, they can get an idea of what I'm capable of. I have NO desire to rate climbs from 1 to 5 on the view and/or whatever esle the thing suggests..... And what the hell is an "ascent header" and what does "DWS" mean????? Did the designers actualy consult with climbers AS they designed this rehab? Or did they just ask for our suggestions(some of which were.....clueless, for lack of a kinder word), take note and then blindly go forth? Sorry man, but I'm going over to Mountain Project. Anyone care to join me?

In reply to: In reply to: In reply to: In reply to: Changing your profile picture is hard to do. The photo resolution is terrible. Some profile photos don't look good because they were small on the old site and have now been resized, stretched and processed. Try uploading a new one - it should look better. We allow a much higher resolution than on the old site. DDT And the nudie pics? What of those, sir? Start a boobies thread, moron. WTF are you waiting for? HAhahaHa!! Hilarious!! Trophy for... who ever you are... hmm, maybe Iīll just reward ya with one of.... no, no, hell no, one of these: Thingsīll get better, you just need to (shut the fuck up and) hang on.

OK.. umm, all that "in reply to" is frikken goofy My profile photo is now a roll of toilet paper hanging in a tree.. When I hit any of the tag buttons, it just wipes out the text and inserts only the first tag? I agree, it's pretty plain-assed looking, much like a government online tax form. NSFW ? Nice Single Female - Willing ? Definitely faster though

In reply to: Glad to see the page loading time did not improve either. I miss the old RC.com logo. Which, ironically, looked like a vagina. Not a penis.

In reply to: I'm guess i'm too laid back. I figure I'll adapt to the changes and don't sweat the small stuff. I agree that the quoting system/windows is less clear now than before. I'll run with it for a few weeks before I make any judgement yeah, I don't really give a rats ass about he site skins, and it certainly loads faster - which is a good thing - but the RDB is fucked up, and the loss of embedded images in threads - and calling that a "feature" - just plain sucks. only been a day, after all the build up, I personally thought the changeover would be somewhat more transparent.

The new site is pretty awful: No embedded images. Can't access later pages in a thread from a topic list page. Must reply to a previous post to contribute. Quotes don't stand out. Colour is insipid and undistinguished. No undo in message replies. No highlight markup in message replies. Ah, I'll stop there. I'll only add that it seems obvious that forcing the system to look up and add quote references for every post, along with adding extra clicks to access thread pages, will very quickly remove any speed increase we're currently experiencing. once the main body of users come back, the site will end up even slower than before. A lot of weak decisions have been made, and the end result is correspondingly weak. And I'm sorry to say that that's my professional opinion.

Im sure alot of the forum stuff can be fixed as Im sure this is just a plug in PHP board of somekind. Im willing to give this a few days just because when I click a link something actually happens. From a useability POV I would move the forums DIV to the top on the homepage. At least move it above the fold. Also I noticed that you cannot go to the very last post in a thread. I think this is a step in the right direction and Im looking forward to seeing what they do in a few weeks. If they keep tweaking - great, if they leave it as is I will be living on Zipperfish!! btw- the no embedded images is completely lame.....

Not to jump on Tradman's bandwagon...OOps ... I think I just did. Someone hand me that clarinet would you? I have to agree with all he listed. Zozo. Save me a spot on the Zipperfish. I may join you. I'm trying to be optomistic here. Hopefully some of the rough edges will get smoothed out in the next few weeks.

Hear hear. WTF happened? The site was so good the way it was, albeit painfully slow... Its good in a way, because now I'll have all that time back in my life that I used to waste here. Just let me remove my damn pics! -T

The new site is alright. Better than I could have come up with. Just because the site is different doesn't mean that the people on here are different. We all are still bitching and moaning about stupid shit. Its the same stuff as always to me. That is, except for the emotcons. Deferently different. Bear

I've been debating since yesterday whether or not to say anything...but now that I've had 24 hours to stew it over... Yep, this site SUCKS donkey butt.... Geez, where do I begin? Unimaginitive color scheme/layout doesn't begin to describe how drab this site is. ZZZzzzzzZZZzzzzzz Profile pic....Ummm, I'm not sure WHO picked it, but it wasn't me! And I can't change it back.... What happened to my Friends list? It's easier for me to get to bouldr.net than to my own compadres. But I guess that's the point, eh, Capitalists?!?!!? The lack of privacy's a nice touch now, too...why don't you just give out people's IP addresses while you're at it?!? LMAO And the photos stuff? Don't even get me started. Oh yeah, and there's the forum layout. Did I mention how user UN-friendly the forums are now, and not worth the hassle? Pretty much like the rest of the site. Sigh...we had some good times together, arceedotcom, and I thank you for the one true gift of my life (Kachooey-baby!!), but I'm afraid our time together has come to a pathetic, whimpering end...I'll miss you....

i'm sad that people are leaving because of the "new"site. I would hope people would give it more of a chance and for it to evolve. to me, it's the people i hang out with here, not just format and look

As Kachooey said, it's like watching the old coffee shop where you met and fell in love being torn down and replaced by a Wal-Mart. Smarts a little, ya know?

Macherry, Sure, the people make the place, but in this case some weird twilight zone reversal has happened and the people literally making the site have forgotten the people using the site hence people are leaving. Frankly, the new site gives me a headache and every time I visit I become less and less likely to visit again because the usability is atrocious. It doesn't mean I'm heading to b.com but the option is looking more and more attractive. Also, I'm sick of everyone that is complacent about the state of affairs, using the "well, I can't do any better" cop-out. Be mad. Mistakes were made. The decisions were bad. Just because you don't write codes doesn't mean you can't be pissed about it and it doesn't mean that you can't ask for things to change. For me, right now, the site is the worst it has ever been. That includes the last 3 months when I could barely get the front page to open. I'm still waiting for Mod's to admit mistakes rather than sit silent and watch a good community rot in a dismally designed shell. ~side

okay, i understand that folks have problems with the site and the "pereceived " direction of the site. Please make constructive criticism and the powers that be will listen. As a mod, i can tell you that i just work here. The owners decide the direction and design of the site. We put in our suggestions and criticism just like any other user. yes, there are certain things i dont like about the new site and i've voiced my opinion. But for me personally, i'm just here to talk about climbing, visit with friends, look at photos, etc. I've been coming here for over 3 years and that's not about to change.

In reply to: to me, it's the people i hang out with here, not just format and look i agree... but than again, there are a bunch of things wrong with this new and "improved" site, it feels like I moved to a different country and only can talk with my friends over the phone.... using a payphone.... next to a highway....

Overall the site is excellent. However, the old rockclimbing.com logo was downright charming. And better pictures, too. But what do I know...
