Hi, Just to let everyone know, a new indoor climbing gym is opening up in DE. I believe in Bear, DE. I'm still trying to find their website. It is the big hipe around here because there is a huge climbing community in the DE, PA, and MD area that are just too far from Go vertical or PRG (me included). I think it is opening in Febuary. I'll try to get a link. A yahoo group has been started all ready, I'll get that link to. Just to let you guys and gals in the area know if you havn't heard.

try www.derockgym.com Not much content yet. A few pics, a map, and some (odd) tentative hours. The gym looks nice, although it appears to be wood on steel framing and that MIGHT preclude any lead walls. TS

All gyms have wood on steel framing. The texture is then added after the plywood or particle board is on. Doesnt mean it wont be leadable, bolts for leading go through the texture, wood, and into the steel framing. Looks like it could be a nice gym.

You can engineer it so it's leadable, but that does not mean they will (BTW, running the bolt through the steel framing would give a very limited bolt placement selection).. And, just so you don't make such an inane statement again, you'll probably want to do some research before you say ALL gyms are made of plywood and steel with the texture applied after. Particle board ??? You really think there is a commercial gym that uses particle board ? TS

Chill out, my post wasnt some sort of shot and you so no need for you to get all bent out of shape. Mabye all gyms dont put their bolt hangers through the framing, but I think most do. Do you think a bolt through plywood would be strong enough to hold a fall? I work at a gym, our walls were built by Eldo, all the bolt hangers go through steel framing, not just the wood. This shouldn't really limit placements of bolt hangers much because there is a lot of steelframing. And yes commercial gyms do use particle board. Eldarodo Wall Company uses particle board when they build. At least they do on some of their projects.
