Nice beaches but no good climbing. I took the shoes and chalkbag a few years ago but it wasn't worth it. Some really crappy bouldering in Santo Domingo. Best to just go diving and snorkeling.

Santo Domingo is not the best place to climb here, but is not that bad either, you can find 30ft high sport routes that goes up to 5.11, and about Punta Cana, it only has one wall (have seen it only in photos), and inside a "exclusive" beach club under construction, so there is no climbing available for the moment. But, if you have time, go to "Galeras" in "Samaná" (you can take a boat from "Sabana de la Mar", near Punta Cana). In Samaná you´ll find a lot of excelent routes, sport and trad, I think is the best place in the Caribean. Anyway, if you need aditional information just let me know...

You can always find climbing partners in Santo Domingo, but I dont know any climber in Samaná, and dont think there is. I sent you a private message with an option, but if you are looking to climb one sigle day, SD is your only choise because Samaná is 4hrs from SD so you would need at least 2 days. Anyway, if you decide coming to SD contact me...

Hi, I'm planning on heading to Samana on Mar 21rst, and I'm inquiring how much equipment to bring. Also, any information on how the top roping systems are is much appreciated. I searched the internet on what to expect and how easy it would be to access the top rope bolts, but found not much but photos.. Thanks soo much!!
