How much noise is necessary to climb?

I am okay with letting out the occasional grunt, whoop of joy, or curse when falling, but I saw something that took the cake.

I was taking a break while bouldering at my gym and I was watching Mr. Hotshot. He was doing the "I'm practicing beta by walking under the blue route and waving my hands in the air" thing. He would let out little shouts whenever he was miming a difficult move. Seriously. You really need to yell when you are practicing the beta? Not only do I have to listen to this asshat shout every time he falls off something/makes a difficult move/chalks up, I have to listen to him make noise while he isn't even climbing.

God I hate gyms...

Shocked I would have loved to see that.

Get the camcorder and have someone kick him in the balls. When he goes down screaming tell him to shut the F%*# up.

I find this difficult to actually believ....But it's very funny, nonetheless.

If it's true.... what you need is an accomplice. Get this person to walk by the vocal one with you, and after a "difficult move" have your accomplice say, under their breath but of course loud enough to be heard, something like "Did you hear that? The asshat is actually grunting while he sprays his air beta?"

And then you, complicit one, loudly shush your friend, and say "hey - that's SO not cool. I heard he has Tourette's Syndrome. He can't help himself."

Unless, of course, the person relly does have Tourettes. In that case, the asshat's on your head....

Considering thaty a lot of noises people make while climbing sound like they belong in the porn movie soundtrack, it would be very funny to see, indeed.
