hello everybody. my name is paul. i like to climb at indian creek. some people use tick marks at indian creek. i have seen them on climbs from 5.10 to 5.13. this is stupid. if you think you need a tick mark, then you are not up to the climb; go home and get stronger. if you don't know why i am mad, you should not be climbing in the desert in the first place. that is all.

I use ticks at the creek, but I only use them on to help remind me whether I should be going thumbs up, or thumbs down. I also write little messages, like 'Way to go', and 'good job' it really helps me relax and know that I'm doing fine. What I think is dumb is those retards who don't wear shoes and make the climbs super slippery with their greasy toes.

I thought ticks preferred places with lots of trees and bushes, like Idaho, where it rains and where there are ample underpants to crawl into...

Tick marks are annoying everywhere. But I understad it's even worth in dry areas and on coloured rocks. STOP WASTING CHALK. MAKE YOUR BRAIN WORK!

i have stated previously that people putting up permanent (and painted) tick marks needs a Long Island adjustment with my ball bat doing it at the Creek on all that red rock with only chalk (? - PLEASE tell me they are not painted) is almost as bad, especially with access issues thinking about it this morning, i believe i would buy a paintball gun, find a good overlooking belay off to the side of one of the ticked climbs, or even better a big chimney that you could completely squeeze into and hide. waiting till the monkey ass ticker is at the crux, i would begin to pelt him, hopefully he isn't wearing a shirt. the shorter the distance the more of a sting and welt they will get (my little brother tells me it can actually be quite painful at closer ranges on bare skin and leave bruises, ha ha). the only problem i see is your shooting "lane", making sure that you are at enough of angle that any missed shots graze PAST him and NOT splatter the wall. if asked by the waste of conception "wha the f@*k you do tha bra?", explain to them that you were just ticking them to remember who they were, like the routes in the gym that they probably came from, such as..."man that green climber is sick, they rated him 64 (IQ), but he's at least a 67" happy hunting! jae

tick marks: another way to bring the climb down to your level half the fun of climbing outside is figuring out the sequence/routefinding IMHO if you want it spelled out for you, stay in the gym

the worse tick mark i ever saw was on an easy 11 at pistol whipped...in letters written large enough to read from half-way up the aproach, one easy move below the anchors, read "send it!" hands down the gayest tick ever figured it took as long to write it as it did to "send it!" later holmes

whoa, nice resurrection. Since I posted that over a year ago, I have moved from Moab, I am not a local anymore (sad sad sad...), but I still agree with the lameness of ticks at the Creek. Especially at the Creek. I'm biased, obnviously; it is the best climbing on earth, in the most beautiful and powerful place on earth. And also in one of the most abused and misunderstood American landscapes. Ticking at the Creek is just a microcosm of what is happening with increased crowds in the Canyon Country, both from redneck jeepheads and hippie hikers. That is all.
