I would like to go!!! Have you been there before? I would need to know the dates if I could be part of your group. Do you have a large group going? Please reply! I 'm trying to fill my calender for the year. Hope I don't sound too forward.

hey tradguy, is this a totally nutty idea or what? is there somewhere else within a close range to vegas that might be easier on the fluid levels

You can do it. Just chase shade. Avoid long approaches in full sun. Or... Just head up to Mt. Charleston and climb on the limestone up there since you aren't much into trad. It's substantially cooler and only about 30-45 minutes from town.

i might have a backup plan if i were you guys. i attempted red rocks last july on my way to and from zion. on the way there, we were blessed with cloudy skies and it was okay climbing at black velvet canyon. on the way back, oh my word. we were up early, and approaching black velvet canyon to do dreams of wild turkeys and by the time we finished the first pitch we bailed, it was in the upper nineties, the guidebook said shade in the morning which was a load of crock as we were in full sun the whole time. it was wretched (to fully wallow in the heat, we drove back home through death valley, where it was over 120.) anyway, even chasing shade, it's gonna be rough.
