Try the White Mountains in NH, the Green Mountains in VT, or the Adirondacks in NY. There's also some mountains in ME. There doesn't seem to be a lot of 3rd or 4th class (none that I've experienced) but there is a lot more than flat snowshoeing. What are you looking to get out of your trips? That will make giving a useful response easier. Personally there is a lot of good variation in the Adirondacks with easy walk-ups to multipitch rock and ice. Check out http://www.summitpost.org

Go to Tuckerman's on a weekday without skiiers and pick a gully. Ascend. This can be repeated in Huntington Ravine on rock buttresses near the ice climbs. The 'Daks have a lot of slides that I haven't done in winter, heard that they are fun though.
