Heading up to Adirondak park to climb over the holiday, but the weather is looking a little sketchy. I'm going to be over by Keene Valley. Anybody out there have any idea of places to climb (or anything else to do) if raining?

Thanks

Always be prepared for rain and cold weather in the ADK's. I lived there for 5 years and have seen snow even in may. If it is raining, check out one of the high peaks or Lake Placid (movie theater, gear shops, food, Lake Placid Pub and Brewery). If you don't have maps for the hikes, go to the Mountaineer or one of the gear shops in LP, they can recommend hikes, maps, and guide books.

If the weather is good, climb at Jewels and Gems (5.6-5.10 60' lead or TR), Chapel Pond Slab(400' and run-out), Creature Wall (lots to climb, but can be hard to find), or one of my favorites the Beer Walls. There is a lifetime of climbing there. Get Don Miller's book if you don't have it - it's a great book and he is a great guy.

Send me an e-mail if you have other questions.

Eric
