after having slacked on a climbing trip, i got addicted, so now im looking out for my own slackline, i can either get a professional rig, with special sling, tighteners, tree protectors and stuff or i can do it myself with a sling and some carabiners,
now, what do you suggest ( the slackline will be outside exposed to the elements ) is the best slackline ?
also, isnt it easyer to tension the slackline using the garda-knot on two biners instead of tying the whole thing off ?

First I suggest you don't leave the slackline outside exposed to the elements. They're not hard to setup so take it down when you're done and it will last a lot longer.
I prefer a simple setupi with carabiners and webing. But it's really up to you

I always just used the webbing + biners thing, then a friend got me a kit from slackline express for Christmas. It's so much easier, the ratchet makes things go so much faster, and I can set super tight lines by myself with no issues.
If you've got the money I would say get the kit.

While there are benefits to buying a kit, I've personally found that it's easy as hell to set up a line myself with a few biners and my own line. It goes up fast, comes down faster, and works for whatever distance I've needed it at. It's important to pay attention to what kinds of lines you're going to be using. If you're going to be near the ground and your line is going to be less than 50 feet or so, then you're fine without a kit. Tree friendlies are easy to rig as well (anything from cardboard to old bike tires to old throw rugs). If you for some reason like low super extra-tight lines, you gotta question why it's called "slack"lining. Kit's, however, can be more helpful if you do enjoy tight lines and you're going to be setting up your rig with long lines by yourself often.

hi there, i bought two slacklines, one set and one line with biners, now the set with the biners is much simpelerand can IMHO be tensioned more then the ratchet set, however tensioning it requires two guys, and some biners.
i used the garda-knot to tension it, and my god, this is much easier then all the ways described on youtube or this site, or anywhere else, you just jank the free end as tight as you can and thats it, the garda knot keeps it in place !!!
breaking down the tensioned garda knot is no problem to do on your own, even if tensioned with two guys, you just pul out the free end of the rope through the biner, this requires some janking, and be sure to keep your hands and fingers away, it snaps, but its just so easy, i can break it down in under 30 sec, realy, and thts faster then it sounds !
i would suggest the set to anyone who wants an easy, clean set-up without using help of someone else to tension, for more bomb-proof lines, i can definately suggets the garda knot,as i mentioned, i feared this method would cause more friction in the tensioning proces, but this is almost unnotable when compared with easy tie-off tensioning way, wich, by the way, is harder to untension then the garda knot !!!
on your next set-up, try the garda knot !!!
