It says this camp was run by a local climbing gym  yikes
Also it sort of sounds like the girl did something stupid like unclipping her rope from the anchor or herself. Then again the staff might have made a bad anchor, say a non-locker hanging near a spike of rock that pushes the gate open.

Anyone want to put odds on when this one gets locked too? I think there's still people steaming out there.
She's totally lucky, and so is the belayor too.

I missed that it had been locked when I grabbed the url. Thanks for pointing it out.
What took place still isn't clear (at least in the media), but it's extremely lucky that both girls are okay.
