is this invite for people known by you folks, or can any PA climber come? I am curious ,plus the fact I don't have a rack but I do have a car, and live on the way for some areas (car pool anyone?drive to me I'll drive the rest of the way ). I can follow 5.10 but more experienced would consider me a noob due to my lack of trad climbing . I am very interested sounds like a good way to meet you folks

Yeah, this should be regional, if you want to be a leetist bastard who only invites people that live in your special area!

No worries, guys. In the past it has been called the PA Gathering but folks from all around are totally welcome to come. You know how they say, the best climbing in PA is in NY... Anyway, Gail, I'm probably in with Kurt, but we'll most likely be camping. I'll let you know about meals. Maybe this will get moved to Gatherings by a mod.

Gail Count me in for sure. Olivier can only climb Saturday, so hopefully there's someone who needs a belay slave or someone to swap leads on easy routes on Sunday. If there's space for just Friday night, Olivier would take it, else he'll join us for the climbing and the beer. Ed

The PA gunks gathering is cool and all, but why don't we have the PA climbers gathering in PA? There are plenty of great places to host it! Just seems logical....

Once again I need to issue my warning that this is the SINGLE BUSIEST weekend at the Gunks each year. It is the cosmic convergence of Columbus Day weekend, leaf season (although it's actually maybe a bit early for that this year so you might catch a break) and the Canadian Thanksgiving holiday. The Gunks will be a zoo. I suggest moving it to another weekend. TS

Tim's probably right, but it's always been a great time anyway. Besides finding cheap sleeps is harder during this busy time! So you can count me in Gail. Mark

gblauer wrote: After a hiatus last year, we are back! Join your fellow Pennsylvania climbers at the Gunks, October 5-7, 2007. Climbers from every state are welcome to join us! As in the past, we have reserved the New Paltz Hostel for our group (sleeps the first 17 who sign up!) and we will host a community dinner on Saturday night, followed by a community breakfast on Sunday morning. I do not have the hostel pricing at this point, I will update ASAP. is'nt EVERY weekend a Pa Gathering at the Gunks? :)

Count me out for the 5th-7th ... unfortunately, I have committed myself to other activities that weekend. Why did I tell you this? Because I'm moving to PA this week (Aug. 9) and I want to speak up so that I might be able to meet some of you folks soon. I'll be living in the H'burg/Lanc area and looking to climb both locally, gunks, and seneca. OK, back to your planning ...

I'll be in Rochester for my edjubucation, but I get 3-day weekends so I might be able to swing it and meet some fellow PA climbers, and finally get to the Gunks.

That weekend is also the NP Film Festival. Bring a good book to read for the 90 minute drive/idle back to town.

Gail, FYI - I stayed at the Hostel recently, and I don't know if they'll be willing to relax the "no alcohol" restriction; they quite pointedly made sure that I knew. Might want to give them a call to be sure. Tai

Hey Gail! I'm still recovering from the ACL surgery...but I might come up anyway. I won't be able to climb, but I'd love to get outside and it should be beautiful there. I'm not sure what Alex is up to for those dates, but I'll ask him. cheers, Larry
