Anyone know of a good guide book for N.C. I live in Atlanta and plan on making my way up there in a few weeks (and probably more often after that). I would really be interested in any bouldering guides, but anything will work (I would like to at least have descriptions of areas before I head to them). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you're looking for a comprehensive bouldering guide to NC I think you're more or less totally hosed, bro. The general attitude appears to be "the locals aren't interested in a guide" which either reads as "nobody's bothered to put one together" or more frequently "the locals don't want a bunch of out-of-towners mucking around the boulder field". Even so, check out ncbouldering.com, that should at least get you to some of the better areas. Once there try to squeeze the locals for some beta. As far as roped climbing goes, I've heard good things about "Selected climbs in North Carolina".

You can also check out the route DB here and on mountainproject.org. Good luck!

I live in the Carolinas and here are a couple of sites to check out:
http://www.mtnadventureguides.com/sitepages/pid28.php

This area has just been open public climb:

Not sure why http://drtopo.com doesn't have us on the map otherwise they have great guides.

A really great guide service and a contact for info:

PS:
Adventure is not in a guide book and Beauty is not on the map. Seek and ye shall find. (read somewhere)

A comprehensive bouldering guide for Rumbling Bald, a world class bouldering area just outside of Chimney Rock, NC, is being printed right now. I was told by the author to look for it in outdoors stores around the area in early December. For more information, check here:

http://www.carolinaclimbers.org

Other than that, Knieveltech is right with Selected Climbs in North Carolina, but it is only sport and trad, so you'll need to rope up for that. Hope that helps!
