The Website is semi-done...the basic part of it is finished, but the store and member's part is still in the works. Thanks to all the people that came out on saturday and CONTINUE to come! We already sold 4 memberships and we haven't even been open for a week! It's a small gym, so the atmosphere is more "homey" and everyone is loving the variety of climbs...we have 5 DIFFERENT EXPERIENCED route setters, so it's good to have different styles at one place. The rating is still a bit off (it's hard trying to make 5 people see "eye to eye" on route rating) but within time we'll get it packed...I HOPE! It's actually funny b/c we've had two climbers that said that they heard about us through this! so merci rockclimbing.com. Tonight is our "bouldering session" and "dyno time" (that's when the big boys come out to play! lol) Hope everyone's having a wicked time. Peace

Good too see things are working out for you. If you don't mind add your gym info to the routes section. More people will see it there.

Cedar Go to the route list for Ontario. scroll to the bottom of the page and fill out the form for a new area. That's pretty much it. If you have any problems PM me. Thanks

The place is called Cedar Climbing, and the location is 100 Dynamic Drive, Unit #10..closest intersection is Markham Rd. and McNicoll Avenue. Visit the website or call us for more info. Question: how many of you like jump starts on routes? We have a 5.12 with a jump start (or a running jump start depending on your skill level) and I'm curious as to what people have to say about that.

Jumpstarts are retarded. You'll eliminate many of those who will want to redpoint the route because they'll have to do the silly jump move every try - and possibly bash their toes against the wall as their body recoils after grabbing the hold. Plus, do you really want people tied into a belay who are then running through the gym to gain momentum? Save the jumpstarts for boulder problems - or eliminate them altogether. Just my two cents.

i'm not a big fan on the jump starts either. Because the height of the gym is not tall (only 24ft), most of our problems are "boulder-like" problems. I agree on the toebashing warning, I've killed my toe like crazy trying it, we might actually take it down and get the setter to redo the beginning...anything else? PS. yeah, the website is www.cedarclimbing.com

For jump start don't you need a second car, a set of cables??? I'd have to agree with ECO... I'm not fond of jump starts on a roped route.

I probably wouldn't have to jump for that climb it's pretty dumb though to have the first move be a bloody jump, it seems like a waste of energy and talent, anybody can jump up and grab a hold of the wall.
