i'm planning on bringing a largish group in the spring, and don't want to clog the popular areas. does anyone have suggestions for good areas to climb where will block as few people as possible? we're always willing to share a spot, but we'd just rather not get in anyone's way.

if you're talking about erock, good luck. the easy toprope areas (around motorboat rock) are nearly ALWAYS packed on weekends with boy scout troops and guiding services. If not on a weekend, you'll be fine anywhere. what levels, how many people, and when will you be going there?

12 people max, 6 climbing at a time (only three ropes available). we're planning on avoiding the easy toprope areas like motorboat. i'm packing a light rack with me, and won't have any trouble setting up a top-rope anchor with it, so ease of setup isn't a concern. we're just trying to inconvenience others as little as possible.

how easy/hard do you need the climbs to be? if you are climbing harder, you could climb at buzzards roost or if you want to go really easy, I think there are some pretty easy climbs on little dome that might even be 4th class, but that might be too easy. You could also spend some time on Turkey peak. There's some good climbs there, easy top rope access and not too many people go up there. Although the base of the climbs is a ledge so you'll have a finite amount of space and everyone will have to avoid the edge. I do think that 12 people will fit up there with no worries though.
