So, played a game of paintball on Sunday. Lots of fun, but noticed towards the end that my quads were starting to cramp up a bit. No problem, I think - they'll clear up after I have some more to drink. Then the next day I get out of bed and realise that I can barely walk. No problem bearing weight as long as I keep my legs straight, and I can flex them as far as I like without putting weight on them, but to do both at the same time... Holy shit! They cramp, and completely refuse to move smoothly Needless to say, stairs and even slight inclines had suddenly become a rather daunting prospect. It's now Wednesday morning. I woke up feeling reasonably ok - still a bit stiff, but it seemed like the cramps were easing. Then I went to go downstairs. I was lucky I didn't end up in a heap at the bottom. The most incredibly intense cramps I've experienced hit both quads simultaneously - seriously, it felt like my kneecaps were about to rip off. I've made sure to drink plenty of water (and electrolytes) both at the game and since, I've winced my way through half and hours' massage on each leg, I've taken magnesium supplements... I'm just about out of ideas here. Anyone?

You're too weak to play paint ball. Stick to climbing and fathering children. Oh, take a Midol like caughtinside suggested. Seriously though, try walking around a bit to loosen up the legs. I've found that after straining muscles the best way to keep them from tightening up is to keep moving throughout the day. The only other advice I can give would be to try heat or ice. Heat on the legs, ice in a glass mixed with some scotch.

Yikes! I've had serious dehydration cramps take like 2-3 days to completely re-hydrate.

Its all that running while crouched over and the ducking in and out of bunkers. It sounds to me like you had some intense fights, theres not much to be done about the sore muscles but suffer through it. Good stuff.

Ok, so I don't have any Midol, but according to our good friend Wikipedia it's made up of paracetamol, caffeine, ibuprofen and an antihistamine. Well, I can't do anything about the antihistamine, so Panadol, Herron Blue, and a nice espresso it is! I hope this works...
